TOP TNA TAG TEAM MAY ALREADY HAVE MADE THEIR LAST APPEARANCE, CONTRACTS EXPIRING THIS WEEK
by Mike Johnson @ 3:22 PM on 8/23/2010

As I have previously noted in the Elite section of PWInsider.com, Team 3D, Brother Ray and Brother Devon, may have made their last official appearances for TNA Wrestling during a promo on last week's Reaction as their contracts are scheduled to expire this week and the team are not written into this week's Impact tapings.

Brother Ray is backstage at the tapings today working as an agent. I have not heard whether Devon is at the tapings. I am told the two sides are still in negotiations but they are not close to a deal yet.

After the beating Fortune laid on EV2.0 several weeks back, Team 3D were featured in an interview that aired on the following week's Reaction episode. That promo may prove to be their TNA swansong, as anti-climactic as it seems.

In my mind, it's a strange situation to think 3D might be on the way out just as the EV2.0 angle is taking off, since they were one of the all time greatest ECW acts and one of the most successful post-ECW as well. When you factor in how many of their students have been signed by TNA and how much strong work that has come out of the team in recent years, to me it seems like a no brainer to want to keep them around, especially for a company that pushes itself as a place where tag team wrestling really matters.

At the Lockdown PPV this past year, we saw how important Team 3D could be in the right scenario. The mic work by Brother Ray and subsequent brawl through the building against Beer Money woke up a crowd that had lacked energy previously in the PPV to the point that the crowd was far more into the remainder of the show. When you have someone who can use psychology and pull the crowd out of the doldrums so easily, to me, that's a veteran presence you want to keep around. While the Team is certainly older, unlike a lot of veterans, you can make a case that they still have something to give back, having learned the right way under the likes of Paul Heyman, Terry Funk, etc.

Team 3D have been with TNA since departing WWE towards the latter part of 2005. During the TNA run, they captured both the NWA and TNA Tag Team championships, positioning the team as the most decorated champions of all time by virtue of their ECW, WWE and WCW Tag Team championship wins as well.
There goes the tag division and I liked the paragraph before the last one.

If this is true, people at TNA need to get on the ball pronto. The tag team division is one of the best things about TNA and if they let this slip like the X and womans divisions, then they might as well just pack it up.

I dont know, maybe this is all for the best. They had awesome tag team careers, but they never really made it as singles guys. Maybe its time to hang it up in TNA. I mean, what is there left for them to do?

Posting this before someone starts a "3D back to WWE" topic.

I doubt it'd happen. Wasn't Bubba the one people didn't like backstage but people loved Dvon?

It was a rumor that Bubba didn't get along with young talent, yet WWE is filled alot with them.

Though if it does happen, I see them being on SD cause Taker is there backstage so there won't really be any trouble.

As much as I like Team 3D, their departing from TNA would not make the tag team division crumble. The TNA Tag Teams are strong and their division is definitely the best in the world right now. You have Beer Money Inc, Ink Inc, Generation Me, Wolfe and Magnus, and the Tag Team Champions MCMG. That division can definitely survive withouth Team 3D.

As far as Team 3D going back to WWE. I think they would be stupid to make a move like that. At this point in their careers, WWE doesn't have anything to offer them. They are the most decorated team in Professional Wrestling, and WWE has zero tag team division to offer them. So Brother Ray and Brother Devon would be better off to renew their contracts with TNA and help the division stay at the top.

They'd be a major loss to TNA but I always felt that one last WWE run would happen for them.

You need a veteran anchor in every division IMO. The Dudleyz are the measuring stick in tag team wrestling. I would seriously mark for them to have a little ROH run. Dudleyz-Briscoes is an all-time dream match of mine.

Hell they might as well leave they haven't used them right in months. The Dudley's are gold when used correctly. Bubba is great on the mic in that pissed off/heel shoot style he does so well. I don't care how old they are they are a valuable asset and if they do leave TNA Vince would be a fool not to take them back.
How so when WWE is on youth mode? They'd be better off doing with Angle plans on doing when he retires, become an agent or work on creative.

I would be shocked if they signed with WWE, since WWE has a really crappy tag team division. I would see 3D going to ROH more than they would WWE.

Wasn't there serious talk about them leaving the last time their contracts expired? Unless Vince gives them a huge contract, which I doubt, I don't see how they go back to WWE and I don't think they'll get a better deal anywhere else, so they might as well stick around in TNA.

I would assume that they would like their last two or three years before hanging up the boots and retiring as a team to be in teh WWE. Not sure if they will get a contract with them or what terms they left with them, don't remember if it was good bad or mutual but if I were them and the most decorated tag team alive today, I would want to end it on a high note in the WWE and possibly enter the HoF as a team that, something they won't do while they are in TNA.

So yeah, if it is for those reasons I totally understand their thinking.
