Tanahashi suffers injury to right knee; will miss remaining World Tag League tour dates.

Due to an injury suffered to his right knee, New Japan Pro Wrestling has come to the decision to remove Hiroshi Tanahashi from December 7’s Yamaguchi card. Further, Tanahashi will be out of action for the remainder of the World Tag League tour, which ends December 11 in Fukuoka.

New Japan Pro Wrestling apologizes to fans who were looking forward to seeing Tanahashi perform.

At the present time, precise details on the condition of Tanahashi’s knee are unknown. Tanahashi is currently undergoing a thorough medical assessment, and when more details become clear, a decision will be made as to his future appearances.

Please be advised that due to Tanahashi’s absence, there will be changes made to the remainder of the cards in the World Tag League tour. Please keep checking njpw1972.com and follow us on social media for further updates.

He needs a time-out to recover his arm after WK12. He's risked his entire 2018 to complete 2017 which is a bit of a shame.

The guy's crazy. He even had a match with Naito when he was injured like I appreciate his spirit and vigor but man, he really took in-ring psychology to the next level.

That sucks. But honestly if he can work Wrestle Kingdom, between this and the bicep injury he needs to take a break.

some guys on twitter said he was diagnosed with arthritis, with a buildup of fluid on his knee. His match with Jay White is not on jeaopardy at this point

The whole build up with his match against Jay White is built on Tanahashi's kingdom falling. I can see White getting a dominant victory thus writing Tanahashi off for a while he heals up. Crazy how a banged up Tanahashi can still perform at the high level he has this past year.
