Ok, right off the bat I'm going to say that I was once a big fan of "The Texas Rattlesnake". I found him so entertaining. Then all of a sudden Austin transitioned from the ass-kicking, rule-breaking, bad attitude having, SOB into the comic releif of WWE. While some people may have liked watching Stone Cold sing songs, wear a badge, drive around on an ATV, and go off on his drawn out "WHAT?!" promos...I felt that it took away from the quality that made me love him as a kid. Nonetheless there are three things to consider as far as why I started to dislike Stone Cold.

1) My standards for favorites was set higher, and became more based on athletic ability and actual wrestling.

2) His character took a turn and made him into WWE's comic releif.

The third thing to consider is something that Stone Cold fans have either chosen to forget, don't care about, or don't even know about. Nonetheless it's widely known that Steve Williams (Steve Austin) was found guilty on charges of domestic assault. I've gotten into this discussion with people before and one of the main arguments I've heard is, "Well I'm still going to like him because what he did out of the ring doesn't change that I like him as an entertainer." and I guess that's fine if that's the way you want to justify it. I just don't understand how so many people have been able to look past the fact that not once, but TWICE this man has been in situations of domestic violence (Once with Debra and once with his girlfriend after Debra). I can't respect a man like that, let alone idolize him. I can understand if you can enjoy his work in the wrestling world, but for those that still idolize him...I just don't get it.

I see your point but the reason SCSA was turned into a comic relief was mayber because:
1.He was funny
2.WWE's C-Team Screwed him up
3.They wanted SCSA to get more fresh because The Rattlesnake was gettin old.
Also I agree with you on the assult thing.Thats not cool but I still like him but not as much.

I don't let any entertainer's personal life affect my opinion on their professional life.

Stone Cold needed to be fresh as he was dying out with the fans as the 'old' Stone Cold.

The fact that he's somewhat just like the character he portrays in real life too makes his gimmick all the more interesting.Stone Cold as a 'sheriff' and GM was not at all entertaining for me too,but I will always remember the peak of his career. He was a great entertainer. But I agree that he was not exactly one of the best where athletic abilities are concerned.

stone cold has made a line that stuck in the heads of wrestling fans forever. now let's see aj styles or anyone from tna do that. you're just angry at the fact that stone cold could get over with the slightest thing while tna wrestlers would never get over in the wwe.

You're an idiot. I never once mentioned TNA. I'm not even going to bother explaining myself because you're completely clueless.

SCSA got stale when he returned after his neck surgery and I never cared much for him after that, although he was once my favorite wrestler.

I agree, the Stone Cold character was good in 1998 when he was stunning Vince and everybody else, but it's old and stale in 2005 because it's not cool whooping your bosses ass. His outside the ring issues are a whole different story.

Stone cold was great, and everybody loved him growing up. He has helped the wwe the most, and is probley the reson for the attitude era. He has put up great matches with , the rock, bret hart, shawn michaels, hhh, taker etc. I loved him growing up but I dont consider him my idol! I don't consider no wrestler my idol. Nor do give a shit about there personal lives. SSCA will forever be the greatest entertainer, but i do admit when he was singing songs, that was gay.

I've never been a Stone Cold mark. I've never even really been a fan. I've always thought of him to be alright. Since I like my heels, I was cheering for Vince during their epic feud.

Like BB, I don't let people's personal lives have anything to do with their professional ones.

its not because he beat his wife that it means hes a bad guys, i mean if someone piss you off and you warn them more than one time, then they deserve to be beaten up weither they are men or women. Evil has no sex. Its not necessary what happened between steve and his wife, but you cant judge the guy just because he beated a woman, you dont know if it will happen to you inyour life so dont judge what you dont know. I hate guys kissing up to the women even if they are the one who have been acting evil in a situation
