The Super Mods are appointed by the Admins as well. And that's pretty much how Admins are appointed..by current Admins.

Then how did the current admins get to be admins? Who was the first Admin?

Admins are admined by each other. Group decision. The first real admin was Nitemare. Many, many years ago. He didn't own the site, but he was the head admin and literally had full reign/power/permissions over the site. He was the person to appoint/remove admins. Then once VerticalScope brought the site, he left, and admins became adminned through group decisions.

Probably not paid at all. I don't know of ANY forum that pays mods, after all, there's plenty of people who would mod for free, so why waste money paying staff that could be used to upgrading/maintaining the site?

The version of vBulletin that this forum runs on is 3.3.2. vBulletin 4.1.2 just came out a couple week ago.

A couple years ago, it was said that the servers would be getting an upgrade. The site still crashes when more than 2500 people are online.

The forum has looked exactly the same since Late 2006/Early 2007.

We got an upgrade a couple years ago (we are still pretty far behind), but I highly doubt the skin will ever change.

We can't get an upgrade because we're just one of many VS forums.
