I realize that in 2000 they pushed Jericho as the big babyface along with Rock like how Rock himself was pushed that way in 1999 with Austin, so that when Austin wasn't on the show, Rock was over enough to keep business going and the ratings strong. But for some odd reason, Jericho didn't necessarily breakout that year like Rock did in '99, I mean Jericho was over and sold merchandise and everything like that, but I mean Rock became so popular that he had a wrestling show named after one of his famous catchphrases (and it's still going strong nearly 11 years later).

Jericho on the other hand was just seen as someone who could've gotten big that year, but instead was just a temporary main star until Austin and Undertaker returned, then he went back to the mid-card for a while. Was it politics that prevented this?

Jericho is and always was a workhorse. Rock and Austin, for all of their accomplishments, are not. Whilst all 3 have excellent mic/promo skills and are great with the crowd, Rock and Austin were always better at it. Even John Cena on his best promo day cannot touch the Rock. We saw that during the SD ten year anniversary show. Rock and Austin were the two biggest stars in the Attitude Era and were also the two biggest draws. That is why when one of them does a movie, WWE shoves it down our throats.

Damn fool is your out of your mind?
Rock is better than Austin
He was light years ahead of his time.
As for this thread
Chris Jericho never won his bread
Cuz Triple H was boning Stpeh in the bed
And he saw Jericho as a threat
So he stopped Jericho from taking more steps
to being one of the absolute best
CJ was better than HHH, in every way he could imagine
he was an overall better version
Chris J. could have been the face of the company
but with HHH around that was never happeing.
Triple H's career is equivelent to Pinnochio's
he's nose grew bigger for every push he stopped, yo.
Jericho, the most under utilized
The lesson here
Success is not destined for everyone's lives

Don't think it was politics actually. The likes Undertaker, Austin and The Rock were and still are bigger names than Chris Jericho. He's a great wrestler and has always been over, especially as a face, but he's not a draw.
