I picked up vibes in that backstage segment. Curtis acting uncomfortable around Saxton and calling him creepy, Saxton brushing it off and insisting that they 'both know the truth'...hmmm. Could go well if done right, I think.

I know people were predicting Bateman would get the gay angle, but I imagine his jealousy towards Gail will be out of friendship, as opposed to actual romantic love for Bryan.

Worked for Mickie cause most of the WC are male and for us there is nothing wrong with a little lesbian action... But in a show that is already somewhat homoerotic the male gay angle wouldn't be very popular...

I remember WWE using Rico or whoever he was with a gay gimmick and as a tag partner to Charlie Haas but I don't remember it to have been very popular amongst the crowd...

Rico was very, very popular, but that was a comedy gimmick, so it's not the same thing anyway.

And I recall the Mickie/Trish angle being hugely popular among a ton of fans. That includes gay guys and straight girls. It's also worth noting that bar one kiss, Mickie James didn't do anything homoerotic for months, and she was still getting seriously big reactions. The basis of it was obsessed romantic love, rather than OTT sexuality, a la HLA in 2002. Unless a girl saying 'I love you' turns you on. :/

There is nothing technically wrong with a gay angle, but the fan base that the WWE targets is a largely homophobic one. So with that being said it wouldn't benefit either guy or the WWE at all.
