Am I right, cause Cena did pretty much lose his WWE Championship match. Albeit a DQ, but regardless, he lost his MitB match. Technically, MitB is no longer a 100% guaranteed title.

Do you think this will affect MitB cash-ins in the future?

I for one welcome the change, and honestly I'm kinda glad that Cena is the one who failed. For all the accomplishments he's had and some not deserved, it's a bit refreshing to know he has one real black stint as the 1st (and so far only) man to lose his World Title match on a MitB cash-in.

Unless someone has some stupid logic like "oh, so Cena even gets the honor of losing." wut lol

But back to the matter at hand, I welcome the change. I honestly believe MitB's original value has diminished severely, and the fact that two suitcases exist every single year makes me cringe. The chase for the title no longer matters. This little plot device known as the MitB suitcase has given writers the ability to be lazy, and it sucks. A lot.

Re: So MitB is no longer 100%?

It shouldn't be 100%, it needs to be a mystery if somebody will actually get the title or not. Not everybody that wins it deserves to actually be champion.

I can't help but feel that they wasted an opportunity to give some up-and-comer a compelling career moment in order to throw something at Cena that he didn't need. Now, they can salvage that (somewhat) by having Punk duck Cena for the rest of the year ("You had your chance"), but otherwise, it was a huge waste.

I'm pretty sure being the 1st man to not win a title on a cash-in is not a compelling career moment.

And honestly, I really, really hate how newcomers HAVE to use MitB to further their career. It worked for Edge because the f*cker deserved it after being in the midcard for so many years, not to mention it broke Cena's stronghold on the WWE Championship for a bit. But for a lot, it's just a "skip character development" card.

Huge waste for what? Nobody in the WWE DESERVES to be in the WWE title picture besides Punk, Bryan, and the guys that were in the WWE title MITB. Having Punk lose to an up and comer would have been stupid.

I think there just be a loophole that a guy who directly challenges the WWE champion his his MITB can lose the match. But I don't think it would be the same for someone who cases in on someone in a sneaky way like after they've already had a match. That's still up in the air as far as i'm concerned.

It should almost always be 100% except in very rare instances because think of it...How the hell would you kayfabe realistically lose a MITB Cash in Match? It's a fool-proof contract.

...You say "I want to cash it in next week in a match" and lose the match?
...You try to cash it in during a run-in and fail?

I mean, really, it's not so hard to imagine losing..

That's not what I said. I said being the first guy to cash in and LOSE could have been the beginning of an interesting character arc. I didn't say some up and comer should have won and taken the title from Punk.
