Friday night's episode of WWE Smackdown on October 29 scored a 1.65 rating, which was another low mark for the series since moving to Syfy one month ago. Last week's episode had the previous low with a 1.70 rating.
Smackdown averaged 2.44 million viewers over the course of the two-hour show. It was a low-mark on Syfy and down nearly ten percent compared to last week's 2.66 million viewers.
Looking at the key demographics, Smackdown hit Syfy lows among adults 18-49, males 18-49, and younger teen males 12-34 & 12-17. Only the rating for males 18-34 was up compared to last week.
Smackdown was hit hard among younger teen male viewers. Among males 12-17, Smackdown was down 32 percent compared to the October 22 Smackdown.
From Syfy's perspective, the positive takeaway is that Smackdown continues to be in the Top 5 on Friday nights among the male demographic.
The following is a break down of Smackdown's TV viewership through the first five episodes on Syfy capturing the pattern of an upward trend followed by a downward trend.
Oct. 1 - 2.52 million viewers
Oct. 8 - 2.61 million viewers
Oct. 15 - 2.88 million viewers (Syfy high)
Oct. 22 - 2.66 million viewers
Oct. 29 - 2.44 million viewers
I suspect that Smackdown has reached it's max of 2.9 million viewers and it might possibly go down as low as 2.2 million viewers on occasional basis. NOTE : Impact did 2.2 million viewers on January 4th (High = 3.4 million) and if iMPACT! makes some needed changes which I think they have started to make and go LIVE, they could compete ratings-rise with Smackdown in a few months.
