WWF: In Your House: D-Generation-X:

WWF Champion: Shawn Michaels vs. Ken Shamrock:

Overview: Here we are at the last PPV of 1997; and Shawn's last PPV match of 1997 which will put a cap on an amazing year in his career; and quite frankly, my favorite year of his career; 1997, where he will defend the WWF World Title against "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock.

Review: DX does backstage interview backstage before the match. Shawn fucks with JR and calls him a "Girth Brooks" and a "fat tub of goo" multiple times while JR sarcastically quips, "Alot of class." Funny stuff:

Shawn in one of his best looking gears ever, the green, black, and sliver DX tights.:

They run the ropes and Ken kicks Shawn in the head hard as hell and knocks Shawn out of the ring. They are shining the babyface early here to no one's surprise. Shawn takes a powder outside the ring and fucks with the announcers.

Shawn back in the ring and Shawn works Ken's arm before Ken throws Shawn in the corner and works him over and tosses him to the center of the ring. Back-body-drop on Shawn very high in the air, as Ken irish-whips Shawn into the corner and he goes flying over the top turnbuckle to the outside where HHH attends to him.

Back in the ring, Shawn spits in his face, and works Ken over in the corner. Ken back in control with some hard right-hands, but Shawn pokes him in the eye. Ken vertical suplex's Shawn and clotheslines him over the top rope onto the outside. Shawn is going to the outside alot here early in the match. Triple H attends to Shawn as Shamrock takes their heads and slams them into eachother. Shawn gouges the eyes and slides back in the ring.

Shawn goes for a sunset flip, but Ken counters it and picks Shawn up and throws him in the corner and works over him again. Shawn gets crotched on the top rope and Ken wobbles the ropes to increase the pain. He goes for his belly to belly, but Shawn pulls the ref in and low-blows Ken as the ref doesn't see it and clotheslines Ken over the top to the outside. HHH works over Ken a bit, until Shawn climbs to the top and jumps onto Ken outside the ring as both men are down outside of the ring. Great stuff.

Shawn hits Ken with a baseball slide. Shawn goes for it again, but misses, as Ken then punches Shawn, but Chyna comes from out of nowhere and shoves him into the ringpost hard as hell. Chyna bodyslams Ken on the outside as Shawn distracts the ref. Shawn jumps off the apron and splashes Shamrock outside of the ring. Triple H then slams his face into the guardrail and throws him in the ring.

Shawn hits Ken with a second turnbuckle elbow-drop. Shawn hits a beautiful dropkick for a two count. Shawn hits a crossbody, but Shamrock reverses it for a two count. Shawn clotheslines Ken down and then puts him in a sleeper:

Ken picks Shawn up on his back and slams him into the corner, multiple times but Shawn won't let go of the sleeper until Ken hits some vicious elbows on Shawn in the corner. A couple of irish-whips and clotheslines and a back-body-drop by Ken as he fires up and hits a powerslam for a two count. Ken hits a hurricarana and goes on top of Shawn and pummels him.

Shamrock hits Shawn with a sit-out Powerbomb for a two count. Triple H and Chyna drag Ken out of the ring and work him over as Shawn distracts the ref. They throw Ken back in and Shawn bodyslams Ken and hits his patented top rope elbow-drop and signals that it's over as he goes to the corner for Sweet Chin Music! Ken counters it and hits a belly to belly suplex on Shawn and goes to apply the ankle-lock as the crowd pops big time:

Triple H hits the ring and attacks Ken to end the match in a DQ. Triple H and Chyna put the boots to Ken and Shawn chokes him until they throw him out of the ring. Triple H and Chyna attack him more outside of the ring. Shawn is celebrating on the apron, until Owen comes from out of nowhere and knocks Shawn off the apron and through the announce table and pummels him with punches until Triple H finally sees him and Owen leaves through the crowd. The PPV ends with DX celebrating in the ring:

Analysis: Really good match that is much better than I remember. Very good way for Shawn to end his 1997 PPV match catalog. One of my favorite underrated Shawn matches. That is the last PPV of 1997; closing out an all-time great year for Shawn, both in-ring and as a character.

December 8, 1997:

Overview: We are one night removed from Shawn retaining his WWF Title against Ken Shamrock at IYH: DX. Tonight, we get the fallout of that and more.

Review: DX comes out to the ring to cut a promo with a table and chairs. Shawn says that Shamrock found he is not quite dangerous enough to take The Heartbreak Kid. He schooled Shamrock, and he is the 'true icon of the WWF.' He says that he is still the European Champion and only GrandSlam Champion in the history of the WWF. He says that Owen tried to rain on their parade. He calls the entire Hart Foundation one big, huge turd that needs to be flushed down the toilet. He says all of it goes down, except for one nugget and that Owen is that one nugget. He says DX is gonna play poker until Owen Hart comes to the ring:

The Headbangers come out and interrupt them. DX then jumps them and powerbombs one of them through the poker table as they destroy the Headbangers and stand tall over them:

Analysis: Well, Shawn and DX continue to heel it up and do whatever they want in a very entertaining way. Shawn's new feud for the Rumble next month is not yet revealed but will be soon enough.

These "Wrestling Bio" videos on Youtube are always really well done. Well, they released this one yesterday, reviewing In Your House: Mind Games, which of course means, they covered the all-time classic between Shawn and Mankind. Highly recommended if you're bored:

34 years ago today on WWF Superstars (12/10/88); The Rockers were supposed to take on The Brainbusters in a match. But instead, both teams hated eachother so much that the segment broke out into a brawl before the bell even rang and this wound up being a big 3 minute brawl instead:

Overview: On tonight's RAW, Shawn will take on Owen Hart in a Title vs. Title match as Shawn puts his European Title up for grabs and Owens puts his IC Title up for grabs as Shawn gets ready to take on Bret for the WWF Title in just 20 more days. DX makes it's presence felt as it usually did in this time period as we get closer to the Shawn/Bret Showdown at Survivor Series 1997. Shawn is wearing his GOAT Hell in a Cell 1997 gear, which I love.

Review: RAW opens up with a tag match between Rocky Maivia & Kama Mustafa vs. Ahmed Johnson & Ken Shamrock. DX comes out with lawn chairs and sit at the top of the stage with signs:

Later on in the show, Shawn takes on Owen Hart:

Owen starts out hot:

Owen then hits Shawn with an spinning heel kick and clotheslines him over the top and the outside. Owen goes for a baseball side, but misses. Shawn drops him on the guardrail and then throws him into the steel steps. Shawn piledrives Owen on the outside during commerical. Back from commercial, Owen is in control and hits Shawn with an overhead belly to belly suplex. He works Shawn over in the corner and puts him in a sleeper:

Shawn back-suplexes Owen to get out of it, and starts punching him on the floor. Shawn get a 2 count off a dropkick. Shawn then puts Owen in a sleeper:

Owen gets out of it and then slingshots Shawn into the top turnbuckle for a two count! Fast moving action here. Owen goes shoulder-first into the ringpost as Shawn moves out of the way. Shawn bodyslams Owen and hits his patented, beautiful top rope elbow drop. Shawn tunes up the band for Sweet Chin Music, Owen ducks, and hits Shawn with an enziguri!

Out comes AUSTIN from the crowd, he stuns the ref! Shawn then hits Owen with a superkick but there is no ref to make the count. Out comes Bret who attacks Shawn! Out comes DX as Rude chop-blocks Bret from behind, and HHH and Chyna remove Shawn from the ring. Out comes Jim and Davey to the ring with Bret, as DX leaves ringside.

Analysis: What a hot segment! The heat for Shawn/Bret continues to build as we get closer to Survivor Series. Really good match that Meltzer rated 3 stars. Shawn has been on fire in-ring, on the mic, and as a character since coming back at SummerSlam.
Man I used to love watching Shawn Michaels go at it with Owen Hart. They’re feud is very underrated and his matches with Davey Boy Smith were also underrated. My fav shawn vs owen match was at in your house on the way to Shawns wrestlemania 12 showdown with Bret But this match was not bad either.

ANother one of my all time favorites. Wish these 2 had more matches because this one was a banger. And this is before I even liked Mick Foley. I didnt learn to appreciate his greatness until a few years later when he won the title for the first time. 2 legends.

Overview: On tonight's RAW, Shawn and HHH will take on LOD in the main event of RAW in tag-team action. They will also look to be expanding DX and recruiting some new member it appears, or will they?

Review: Backstage before the match, JR asks them about Owen. Shawn said he isn't hard to find, he's the guy with all the gold that he took from all of his family members. They play rock, paper, scissor to decide who will get Owen out of the WWF, and Triple H wins:

Shawn says they will rip LOD apart.

During the latter part of the match, the NAO come out and attack the LOD. Chyna low-blows Animal and the match ends in a DQ:

After the match, the NAO and DX powerbomb Animal from the top of the apron onto the announce table:

After all this, the Outlaws and DX kinda half-heartedly 'fight' over who should take credit for destroying LOD:

Billy Gunn shaves Hawk's hair off his head and DX looks impressed. LOD has NEVER been decimated like this before. It's a truly shocking moment. They completely destroy LOD as the NAO walk up the stage and RAW goes off the air with Shawn looking at NAO while rubbing his chin as if to say he is impressed by them and maybe they can join DX in the future?:

Analysis: This certainly was foreshadowing as the NAO would join DX later on in a few months. Never seen LOD dominated here like this, but it was 5 on 2, so it made sense. DX were certainly heat magnets in this era and made for some very entertaining TV.
