terrible news. the only positive i suppose is that his family has closure and hopefully celebrate his life and what he did, give his life for his child. there's nothing more heroic than that. rip.

Terrible and tragic, but at least his family and loved ones can take solace in being able to give him a funeral.

Not having a body to bury or cremate would have made the grieving process that much harder.

Like others have said if there is someone who deserves to be given the Warrior Award at the HOF it's him.

RIP, Shad. Hopefully it will give his son a little bit of solace that the lifeguard said they probably wouldn’t have been able to rescue Shad, due to his size, even if they had went after him first. Rescuing the son was their only real option.
