Congrats. I have little to no desire to return to this game sadly.
Yeah as I noted earlier I really think this will be a once and done type of game for me. I just have the last boss to go, getting closer to downing him for good. I enjoy many aspects of the game but others that are rather prominent just drag it down.

Where did you end up in? After Genichiro?

Haven’t beaten him yet. I assume if I wanna waste an entire hour or more to learn patterns and get the entire community in game infected with dragonrot I could eventually beat him. It just becomes a chore to play and boring when you fail dozens of times. The small rush I get defeating a boss on here isn’t the same as on Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

Totally get you and I feel the same way with this same (obviously to a lesser extent than you as I am still playing and intend to finish it). Most of the bosses/mini bosses I really didn't like and only a handful gave me that feeling of satisfaction when killing them while the rest was more "thanks that's over with". The core combat while well done is just not up my alley. It isn't even a bout the need to time moves per se (I had a blast with God of War and that game's combat focused on timing too), I just feel there is this tedium inherent in every single encounter and it is just made worse in the boss fights.

I only had the final boss left to do from the game which consists of first beating Genichiro, Way of Tomoe and then going through three phases of Isshin, the Sword Saint, so basically a four phase boss. Much like with the first phase of the Nameless King of Dark Souls 3 (for example), I think that the Genichiro phase should have just been a one time thing as opposed to making you go through it every time you are trying to learn the moves of the actual final boss. But both Genichiro's phase and the first phase of Isshin are rather straight forward and not much of a hassle to get through once you learn them. The real challenge comes with he last two phases. With those phases I found a much better approach was to let him come to me and deflect as opposed to running around and fishing for openings. It made the fight more manageable I found. Took me a few number of tries to beat this boss I think more or less the same as the Genichiro fight in Ashina Castle.

That run I beat him was definitely not a good one, quite a close call too. I had done much better in previous runs a couple of days ago. But I'll take it. I went for what I believe is the purification ending.

Well, that concludes my play through. I'm not sure if I feel like jumping into NG+ really. I enjoyed many things from the game but overall I felt it was lacking something that FROM's other games had that made me get more invested in everything and keep coming back to them. The final boss in particular didn't get me hyped or made me feel anything either. Big contrast to say, Gael in Dark Souls 3 (to cite a boos I have fought recently), which was a fight that with it's music, visuals, atmosphere and the like gets me so hyped specially during it's third phase that in the SL1 run I had to also learn to avoid getting too hyped due to the theme and the visuals on top of keeping my cool with the boss so as to not mess it up. I just didn't feel anything with the final boss of Sekiro.

Finally beat this game, after dying to Isshin the Sword-Spear-Gun-Lightning Saint about 50 times lol can't lie first few times I tried to cheese him by running around and doing chip damage but he kept catching me, so I said fuck it, got agressive and tried my best to deflect/counter, still died a bunch but when I finally got him I did it taking virtually no damage.
