Last days I've watched some Rugby tournaments and was excited about some reasons.
It looks like (American) football but I've spotted the differences:
1. -If you're tackled, pass the ball.
2. -Partners may catch the after a fumble.
3. -Interception is allowed.
4. -Time is more dynamic than football.

does Anybody else like rugby? This is your thread. Welcome!

I had no clue about it until I married a D1 rugby player (mercifully, the tiniest player on the field). It's a fun enough sport once you learn the rules. Not nearly as entertaining as American football, but fun enough to watch and play. :)

Hello El Grappleador

There are 2 Mains type of Rugby Union and Rugby league .
Union is 15 a side generally expect in 5's or 7's.

League is 13 a side .

There was a spilt in 1885 as Union was amateur until 1995.

The split happened as some of the people playing in the north of England were working class and could not afford to take time off to train or play .

Some of people in south of England were professional people Doctors, lawyers, etc and could afford to take time off to play .
Some people switched to get paid to play.

There is world coup this year in Japan 20 September to 2 November.

Yours

Farhan

Huge fan, its basically a religion in New Zealand. The Aussies only care about it when they're winning though.

The Super Rugby season so far has been really good.

There's some genuine threats this year with Wales, Ireland and England to New Zealand claiming a 3rd World Cup in a row.

I had no clue about it until I married a D1 rugby player (mercifully, the tiniest player on the field). It's a fun enough sport once you learn the rules. Not nearly as entertaining as American football, but fun enough to watch and play. :)
I'm biased of course but American Football is so dull. Like 10 seconds of gameplay then they have a couple of minutes rest while they reset and run some commercials. I find the free flowing aspect of Rugby and continuous gameplay so much more exciting.

Ive tried to get into American football so many times over the years but it just never clicks for me. I like the idea of it a lot more than the actual execution. Rugby is just so much more dynamic and no nonsense.

The Crusaders just keep unearthing more and more World class talent. Its ridiculous how many elite players they have in the squad, every week they have to leave out a handful of guys that are up there as one of the best players in the World in their position.

Just focusing on the backs in recent seasons guys like Bridge, Havili, Mounga, Goodhue have emerged as long term All Blacks. Now this season Will Jordan and Braydon Ennor have been phenomenal, and in about three appearances Sevu Reece has looked like an absolute beast.

Its hard to see them losing the Comp this year. That lone loss to the Waratahs just makes less and less sense each week with how fantastic they've been in every other game. Seems inevitable that they win three in a row. Razor Robinson is doing great things, and has created a great culture there when considering they went Titleless in the 8 years Blackadder was Coach.

I know "anything can happen" is an MMA thing where hardcore MMA fans pretend thats the only sport where unexpected shit happens but the Crusaders going to a draw against the Sharks in Chch makes no sense. Crusaders went from looking like they were unbeatable to looking like hopeless bums. Lucky to steal a draw with how crap they played at home.

Only thing with the Crusaders is they're either amazing or they play like a pack of losers who have never played Rugby before, no middle ground.

Its a sport I despised as a kid due to being a scrawny little geek, I tolerate it when its on but its just never been my thing.
