New renders for The Righteous after their ROH return. There had been interest from WWE in putting them in the seemingly abandoned Wyatt 6 faction.

See less See more
For anyone wondering, these were the matches taped for the next HonorClub in Long Island last night.

Lucha Brothers & Mark Briscoe vs. Shane Taylor & The WorkHorsemen

ROH Pure Title: Katsuyori Shibata (c) vs. Christopher Daniels

Ortiz vs. Brian Cage

Darius Martin vs. Jay Lethal

The Infantry vs. Rush & Dralistico

Daniel Garcia vs. Tracy Williams

ROH Women's Title: Athena (c) vs. Miyu Yamashita

Willow Nightingale vs. Notorious Mimi

The Righteous vs. Even Stevens

Konosuke Takeshita vs. Tony Nese

Also, Gresham may be having regrets.

I can definitely see where Gresham was coming from. He was the guy holding it down for ROH when they were a dead promotion and like PWI put him in the top 10. He probably thought that TK was going to make him the face of ROH. It was probably a big hit to his ego when he was told he was jobbing to Claudio, who is a midcard act.

It does kind suck to see a guy bet on himself and then have it appear to have been the wrong decision
I'd like to see Archer shift to ROH with a big push, since AEW never uses him consistently. I remember he and Davey Boy Jr. challenging Briscoes for the ROH tag belts some years back.

The Punishment Martinez push perhaps with a TV Title reign.

These guys too have never gotten far in AEW (fka Bear Country).

Hijo del Vikingo vs. Gr1ngo Loco for the AAA Mega Title and Samoa Joe vs. Colt Cabana for the ROH TV Title were taped for ROH HonorClub last night.

Much of the card felt like AEW Dark Elevation though. Taping ROH before/after AEW is a double-edged sword: you get a sizable crowd but the product also feels less unique as it's using a group of 'leftover' AEW talent (ie. Uno/Grayson vs. Cole Karter/Lee Johnson is pure AEW C show and gives WWECW vibes). If they moved these guys to ROH permanently that wouldn't be an issue, but will they?

No-results match list here:

No Nigel on commentary this week. :(

Overall, I really loved Shibata and Coughlin vs The Workhorsemen! These ROH shows have been very solid

I think guys like Karter and Lee Johnson should absolutely mainly be exclusive to ROH. Also, this women's division needs a midcard. Like if Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale are gonna be on this show, they should have feuds or something? Otherwise, why are they here?
Claudio vs. Metalik was a great ROH title match. I loved the clash of styles and how clean the match was. Claudio is being booked like a god in ROH and I dig it.

Metalik was one of the best luchadores around before he joined WWE. After the CWC/early 205 Live stuff there, he was misused badly and seemed to lose a lot of confidence. I think he's getting his mojo back now.

The Shibata tag was pretty great too. Everything else was so-so to decent, with Nese vs. Grayson being a fine match.

Shibata still rules so much.

I would like to see Coughlin vs HOOK. They're kinda similar in terms of size and fighting style. I bet it would be great

Not too many young guys with a heavy suplex-based attack these days.

Also, maybe a "The Ring is Lava" triple threat between Komander, Metalik and Leon Ruffin
Jesus Christ. Vikingo is actually Spider-man or something

Thought this was a weird show this week. Mostly an episode of AEW Dark but then a 5* PPV-level banger between Vikingo and G ringo Loco. Also, The Righteous were not on the show to interact with Dark Order, so I dunno why Dark Order were on the show. Seems like there were no stories progressed this week at all.

Maybe this was the start of a build to Vikingo getting a shot at Claudio? That would be incredible

The good and bad kind of evened itself out here but there was just little going on storyline wise. They didn't build to a single thing here.
Athena proves again why shes the most entertaining woman with a world title in any promotion.

Heather Reckless was solid too, she has the it factor which was obvious within the first 30 seconds of her performance. Heather is proof that you can be under 5 feet tall and still not suck. What the cosplay wrestlers and the all around terrible workers like Riho, Yuka Sakazaki and Roxanne Perez lack isn't size, age, experience, etc. It's explosiveness, charisma, tenacity, a presence, the right look and it factor that cannot be taught. You either have it or you don't.

I think calling Heather under 5' does not really do it justice. Athena looked like Andre the Giant in there with her

Takeshita vs. Moriarty was really, REALLY good. Of the younger guys AEW has signed, Moriarty seems to be the one most off the radar. He's a quality wrestler but needs to find some sort of USP. ROH is a good place for him right now.

Yeah, Moriarty is solid. HOOK vs Moriarty is also one of my favorite Rampage matches. Just needs to find a personality and a look

In the match against Takeshita, he attempted The Pepsi Twist twice. Could be a hint that he will be in a stable with CM Punk? Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I don't remember him doing it before and it is a pretty unique move to CM Punk.
I am a little concerned about the continuity of this show.

Last week: Eddie Kingston makes an emotional call out of Claudio. This week: neither of them are on the show

Last week: The Righteous seemingly threaten to kidnap and indoctrinate Stu Grayson. This week: Dark Order are on the show but The Righteous and Stu Grayson are nowhere to be seen

Last Week: Athena threatens to murder Lexy Nair if she doesn't get some real competition. This week: she has a squash match against an opponent with zero wins and cuts a regular promo.

The greatest thing about WBD getting so involved in AEW is that they will eventually force Tony to get help with the AEW brand which will either convince him to do the same with ROH or free up his time so he can focus more on ROH.

These pre-Dynamite tapings are problematic because TK books a bunch of spillover AEW talent who aren't necessarily part of ROH's storylines. ie. the tapings on Wednesday involved Best Friends, who have had nothing to do with neo-ROH so far.

The show feels more coherent when they run Universal Studios and less of an AEW extension event. Speaking of which...

A face Shawn Spears would be a great opponent for Castignoli but looks like he'll be in a program with Spears v White & Robinson over the next month or so unfortunately
Spoiler of Claudio's challenger at the tapings.

Big fan of the guy and nice to see him in ROH.

Also taped:

Joe vs. Daniels for the ROH TV Title... that's some old school TNA/ROH!

Athena vs. Angelica Risk

Lee Moriarty vs. Rocky Romero in a Pure Rules Match
