TNA wrestler Robbie E. (a/k/a Rob Strauss) told Alex Marvez of Scripps News that his "Jersey Shore" inspired character isn't much of a stretch. "I still watch the show and find it entertaining," he said. "I was into all the same stuff. The clothes they wear on TV I would wear in real life, like funky white shoes, a white belt and white watch. In the summer, I used to go down to the shore and go to the same clubs and bars they frequent."

Robbie also spoke about Vince Russo liking his tryout match. "I was wrestling on 'Impact' in a (non-televised) match in August when Vince saw me and said he thought I had the 'Jersey Shore' look," he said. "He had wanted to do this type of character. He told me to spike my hair and give a fist pump on the way to the ring. I did it and he liked it." To read the full interview, visit ScrippsNews.com.

Powell's POV: Robbie also discussed how Cookie (a/k/a Becky Bayless complements the act, the TMZ exposure the angle has received, and how he played the "waiting game" for ten years.

Soooo...it all came from Russo's mind...that' says a lot really.

btw...too bad Robbie E finisher was changed from a Diamond cutter/RKO to something closer to a neckbreaker.

Of course it was a Russo idea, the whole thing has a WCW 2000 feel to it.

God, he comes off way too strong with the gimmick. That's what I like about Zack Ryder in the WWE. He comes off as an actual person, instead of a ripoff. Not to mention he's hilarious. Unfortunately he's just jobbing right now.

I don't really see the hate for this guy or his gimmick. Him and Cookie are supposed to be annoyingly bad over the top parodies of the Jersey Shore characters to get heat. Seems to be working fine.

That guy looks like an 90's pornstar, i don't see how his gimmick is working, the only reason i hate him is because he should have been in a room filming "Sex in the city: Jersey" instead in a TNA ring.

Wow, atleast if they had given him a cutter as a finisher he'd have some ounce of credibility.
