Former WWE and WCW Tag Team Champ Road Warrior Animal recently did an interview with Hannibal TV to talk about who he thinks are the best tag teams of all time. You can check out what he had to say here:

His thoughts on The Dudley Boyz:
"Let me sum this up. I got nothing against D-Von or Bubba, D-Von is a great guy. Love him. They were good back in ECW in their early years. I'm gonna say this. But here's the bottom line, you can say you're the greatest cause you won the WWE championship so many times, all the TNA championships, but come in my shoes where you've won 14 different world championships. I'm talking Australia, Mexico, six different Japanese company belts, AWA, NWA, WCW, WWF, WWE. Right there you got 12 championships. Not only are you going down to Portland and winning those titles, going to Mexico City - I've been a part of 14 different belts. Even Hawk and I have been at least 10, 12 different titles. The only team ever to take the international belts out of Japan, and defend them against the AWA, NWA, and not WWF, but those titles and the WCW titles, and made the international belts famous. They ain't done that. I have nothing against The Dudleys, but let's be real to all the fans out there.

"You got to be real when it's time to be real and be honest. Listen, Hulk Hogan is the greatest single thing to ever happen to the wrestling business and I'll be the first one to say it. When something is true you have to say it. The best entertainer to ever come out of this business is The Rock. Number one best entertaining guy ever and has set the wrestling standard that nobody will ever match. The guy did 170 million dollars in profit this year. No wrestler will ever do that ever in movies. I'm the first one to say it. So the Dudleys come out here and say that kind of crap, they really need to think about it and before they open up their mouth and say 'Okay, did we really do anything that was better than The Road Warriors?' The answer is simple, no. Are they great? Yeah, they're great. But they're not The Road Warriors. They're not gonna go down in history as a legendary status."

His favorite tag team to have watched throughout the years:

"Steiners are right up there. Steiners are up there. There's a lot of not really well tag teams. The Horseman were phenomenal. Midnight Express, The Rock N' Roll Express, so underrated as far as tag teams go. Do you remember at the end of the first Cold War, when they put Ivan and Nikita Koloff against Hulk and I at The Great American Bash? And we both were heels and turned us red, white and blue USA, came out with the American flag on the motorcycle. Are you kidding me? The Russians against The American Badasses. Turned us stone cold baby face. Good guys. And from then on we don't look back. There were some great teams. Krusher Kruschev and Nikita Koloff, two big Russian boys that we fought. The Hart Foundation. Come on. We wrestled some monster teams. The Briscoes, The Funks. The Funks beat us up all over Japan and helped us in Japan. So I mean, I think we're gonna go down in history and there's a lot of great teams, but I think the Steiners probably have to be at the top of that tier."

I´m a big fan of Road Warriors (obviously), but the Dudleys are a legendary Tag Team. You don´t get 23 title runs on a fluke.
The major difference is that ½ of the Road Warriors are dead, which, morbidly as it may sound, always adds a little extra when there´s talk about greatness and/or "Legendary" status.

So his logic that The Dudleys aren't legendary tag teams and LOD are is because they didn't win every single tag team title in every minor wrestling promotion, WTF? Someone needs to tell Animal that if you go and wrestle with minor wrestling promotions, you tend to get titles based on your pedigree, not your talent. Those titles mean nothing. The Dudleys never did that, instead they went to every major wrestling promotion and won the tag team titles there, many many times over instead of booking it to small time indie feds and get handed the titles because they have pedigree.

I see nothing wrong with anything he said here. The thread title here zeroes in on the one line about the Dudleys not being legendary, but all he's really doing here is presenting his case that the Road Warriors were the greater tag team. Which they were, IMO. If I'm Animal and another team is claiming the are the greatest tag team ever I'm going to say the same thing.

The Steiner are also my fav tag team all time. Great so see Animal give them such high praise.

The Dudleys weren't that great of Tag Team if they couldn't use tables to get themselves over with the fans. The Dudleys last WWE run proved how boring they are without having to use tables in every match. I won't think of them as legendary tag-team.

Dudleys are up there with The Road Warriors in my opinion. The Road Warriors are my favourite tag team of all time of course, up there with the Steiner Brothers and Demolition, I'd gladly put the Dudleys and the Hardys up there with them, even Edge and Christian. Dudleys did for the attitude era what the Road Warriors did for the Golden Era.

But thats Animals opinion so whatever. We'll let time decide their fate :)

I disagree, the Dudleys recent run in WWE wa shit because a) they were over shadowed by the New Days title run, b)were booked as losers, c) had hardly any mic time, and d) had no creative freedom.

Lucky it wasnt the Hardy's that came in when they did other wise they would have been in the same position. And had The dudleys had of returned now instead of when they did they might have got another title run...

IMO the most overrated tag team ever are the New Age Outlaws, I don't know if the Dudleys are legendary status but they might be top 10 all-time for tag teams

As far as total dominance and main stream attention I don't think anyone can touch the Road Warriors. I was surprised to no hear Animal say this. When you talk about Hulk Hogan being the single most greatest thing to happen to wrestling, then you can't keep out The Road Warriors being the best thing to happen to tag team wrestling. Both of those statements are fact.

Nothing against The Dudley Boyz because they're one of my favorites of all times. They're easily one of the greatest heel tag teams of all time, if not the best. However, Hawk and Animal were on a whole other level. Every big guy tag team will always be compared to The Road Warriors, at least from my perspective. You could take them out of the past and place them in today and they would do it all over again. The Dudley Boyz may not have been over during the early 80's. Just something to consider.

The Road Warriors were among the biggest draws of the territory era - right there with Hogan, Flair and Andre. There isn't a modern tag team that you could compare to them at their peak. They are unequivocally the GOAT tag team. The Steiners, Rock N Roll Express, and Hart Foundation are competing for #2 .

The guy is a dickhead just like his brother.
He acts like he genuinely won titles, no you dickhead they were given to you just like the Dudleys were given them as well.
I bet he is the sort of dope that shows them off to people like he really won them
