I just always calculated the formula.

I think Diesel asked one day because we wanted to be able to put people in the neg with one rep and it was figured out.

I don't remember it, but it was X amount for how many months you were a member, X amount for how many posts you had and X Amount for how much reputation you had.

I wasn't around when rep was unlimited or you could buy it, so I am at a modest 24 with exactly 27,000 rep points.
