OH BABY.

Look/Presence: 666/10. AURA CITY. Holy fuck Kane is the coolest motherfucker, as a kid this was love at first sight. Underwho?
In-Ring Ability: 10/10. One of the best big men ever. Everything he does looks great, absolute brickhouse in his prime, believable offense that makes sense.
Charisma: 10/10. I don't give a fuck who you are, you tried to do the Kane walk at some point in your life. I'm going to tell you this anecdotal tale, every time I'd play a wrestling video game with friends who never watched when they'd go around the select screen they'd almost always pick Kane. I don't mean they'd give a look around either, they saw that mask and zoomed to him.
Mic Skills: 10/10. Underrated as all hell, AWESOME delivery, can sound completely unhinged at a moment's notice and has that deep booming voice. "THE UNDERTAKER IS DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD."

I fucking love Kane.

Fun little fact I learned in the last few years, Peter Steele of Type O Negative was originally contacted to do a theme song for Kane and watched some tapes/promos to help get a creative feel and according to his bandmates he was completely entranced by the character and worked on the song tirelessly. Sadly the theme was never used and they went with Slow Chemical instead and it apparently was a long hope of his to see Kane walk out to his version one day before his unfortunate passing. Peter Steele was a 6'8 tank of a man who looked like a vampire lord and he was down with the Big Red Machine.

Look - 9/10. His later stages were meh. Early on and even when he first became unmasked are a for sure 10. I think as time went on his look got progressively worse.

In Ring - 5/10. He could have a STINKER. But he did have some bangers in his career. Not the greatest - honestly can only really think of the bad instead of the good.

Charisma - 10/10. Always his strong suit. Got put with some GOAT horrible wrestling storylines and still got them over to some degree. Was booked to look like a fucking idiot sometimes and still came out over. Best was when he was viewed as a monster. He did some awesome work with that and it’s a shame they couldn’t capitalize with it more.

Mic - 7/10. I mean he’s alright…. Nothing special. Could grab a mic and not make me cringe. Extra points for having to deal with shitty storyline after shitty storyline and still make it work somehow.

I say just rate someone based on the Overall Average throughout his or her long career, or just pick a specific period within a career that you want to evaluate a certain talent.

I say just rate someone based on the Overall Average throughout his or her long career, or just pick a specific period within a career that you want to evaluate a certain talent.

I understand that but in this particular case it's so difficult when the two parts of Kane's career were so different. How can you rate his mic skills when he was somewhat handcuffed, for example, when he had the mask?

But fine. If we're going with an average across the ENTIRE career, then I'd say:

Kane was always one of my favourites. The character work was great, his matches were cool, his look (when masked) was always on point. Even his unmasking was a fantastic memorable moment. Once the mask was gone, he lost a lot of the aura, but I've scored him in his prime.

I mean you really can't argue too much that.
Look is obvious 10/10 - because there is never mistaking Kane.
In Ring also obvious 10/10 - does things a lot of people his size could not dream of doing AND did them SAFELY.
Charisma 10/10 - he held the attention of arenas full of people with masks on or off.
Mic Skills = I might have to just go 9/10.. Usually he was great on pacing his delivery.. but every once in a while he'd get ahead of himself and stammer a bit.
But it was never to the point it ruined segment or anything.
