Promos are way overdone; cut them back by 80%

Bret Hart was 100% right. Wrestlers talk way too much these days.

I am so tired of promo battles. Why the hell do we need this?

Damn Charlotte and Tiffany, Cena and Cody. Go do reality TV or in Cenas case movies.

We need a world champion who doesn't play the game and give one word answers and refuses to get dragged into promo battles.

And they go in the ring and destroys all these god damn actors with their promos.

It seems like it is aimed at gossip mongers and drama queens.

Pro wrestling needs to get back to simple storylines and fighting over world championships.

In boxing Fury talked endless shit yet got beat by Usyk twice who doesn't talk much at all. WWE needs to take lessons from boxing.

We need a world champion who doesn't like to talk.

Promos should return to their root which is, you know, PROMOTING a match. I am sick and tired of these roast battles which don't progress/develop any angle whatsoever. Give me a reason to want to see the fight for f's sake. I think that modern emphasis on the promo/microphone segments over in-ring nuances has created a generation (or a two/few) wrestlers who are unable to bring their gimmicks and the stories of the promos alive into the match they are trying to PROMOTE and sell.

Pro Wrestling isn't real though. In real co.bat sports you don't need the drama, the genuine competitive contest is what you're watching.

Wrestling needs the bells and whistles, otherwise it's just 2 dudes in speedos play fighting.

The problem is WWE loves giving people who can't talk so much promo time while the genuine talkers get so little.

Whys LA Knight never get to cut a 10 minute promo buy people like Rollins, Gunther, etc regularly do?

WWE’s biggest problem is the time wasted on entrances. You got to cut that down. I still generally enjoy promos as long as the guy on the mic can talk. If you are giving promo time to people that can’t, that’s a problem

WWE doesn’t have enough talent to fill a 3 hour Smackdown.

So you want to take a core part of professional wrestling away?

That's absolutely bonkers, how on earth would that work? How can they sell their feud being mute? And it's not called a "promo battle". Just a promo or "segment".

Without promos' or segments' the wrestlers are nothing more than gymnasts and stunt men, while we're at it lets get rid of that pesky ring and that pointless referee too huh?

Let's go one further and ban storylines. Who needs em'?

Rename "finisher" into "the big move".

This is a terrible idea.

You should watch UFC or strikeforce they're actually fighting and don't have the entertaining aspects of pro wrestling. Enjoy.

Yesterday I rewatched Bret vs Owen WM X for the first time since childhood.... I didn't even remember how good it was. Simple things were done so effectively. But then there was a tombstone pile-driver that from Owen that didn't finish off Bret which he sold like it was ddt.

Reminded me of how everyone gets so up in arms about stuff like that these days. Love Bret but not everything the older generation says is gospel. They're all biased.

Besides, Bret was never the promo guy so it's understandable he would think that. I think It's not that promos take too much time.. I think it feels that way because majority promos are shit these days.

If the storyline is not hitting... Promos won't hit. It's like building a structure on a crooked base.

Edit: that being said, entrances like Roman's need to be chopped in half. I understand they're wasting time because it pays to be 3 hours.. but come on. It's ridiculous how long some of these are.

You have time to go make a sandwich and some of these entrances aren't even halfway over by the time you get back. In a lot of cases that's not even an exaggeration lol

Like it's fine when you see the entrance once or twice, but it's the SAME bloody entrance every time. So why are we spending 10 minutes watching them every week? There's a reason why most people skip the entrances in the 2K games after seeing them a couple of time.

Rollins' attires might be goofy, but at least he changes it up every time. I actually appreciate that because it's not a literal copy / paste. There's at least SOMETHING new to see.
