So i just wanted to askif you know People from the 80's that were Heels but got Cheered no matter what they did, and maybe cheered so much that they had to turn him. I know of Ventura who always seemed Popular, Snuka got cheered like crazy when he wasa Heel and they turned on him, but instead of getting boed he got cheered.

Does anyone know more Guys? Or even reversed, they were Faces but were booed.

Savage was one of those heels in the 80s that the fans would boo but you could tell they really wanted to cheer for him. So when he finally did turn face it was an easy transition because the fans were absolutely ready to cheer for him.

Flair was revered
Agreed, when Steamboat was red hot in 89, when Flair/Steamboat were introduced, Steambaot clearly got alot of boos (more cheered certainly), whereas Flair got cheered (again albeit more boos), but still, both got Booed-Cheered respecitvely.

Hard to think though, because 95% of the time, faces were cheered wildly, heels got booed madly unlike the 90s and now.

Jake Roberts got cheered a lot as a heel because the fans loved his DDT, and apparently that's why his feud with Hogan never happened, as they started chanting "DDT" instead of "Hogan".

I don't know about 'because they were too popular' but the 2 that stand out in my mind are Hercules and Demolition. Both walked into Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino as heels at Wrestlemania 4 and walked down the same aisle 12 months later as babyfaces.

FUCK YOU KINGCAL! I WAS GONNA SAY THAT STORY!

But yeah, Jake was awesome. In the prime of Hulkamania, just as Jake was starting up, he DDT'ed Hogan in an interview segment. And how did the crowd respond? They cheered. They cheered like crazy. Jake utterly destroyed their hero and hulkamania, and they loved it. And this, scared the hell out of Vince. He hid the tape and never spoke of it again. He was also careful never to let Jake and Hogan cross paths again as long as Jake was heel.

i was gonna bring up roberts too, its a shame he didnt get to have a program with hogan, could have been a great feud in history of wrestling.

jake was just too good, just a badass heel that didnt need anyone else. and he played the role of the untrustworthy, psycho/genius better than any wrestler will ever be able to.
