I love poker. I have loved it for years now. As for playing it, I have never played in a local or major tournament but I have played some poker with other people. As for my playing skills, I think I'm pretty decent. I don't know if I will ever try to play a major tournament in my life(I will try to at least play a local tournament some day). As you might not know, the 2010 World Series of Poker has returned to ESPN, starting last night. Last night they showed the 2010 $50,000 Players Championship. Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi won the event and won his first WSOP Braclet in the process. I also like the fact that ESPN has finally put in their telecast about the positions in poker when they show the player's cards in a hand. It was long overdue. So basically this a thread to talk about Poker. So anything from the game itself or the tournaments like World Series of Poker or the World Poker Tour. Let's talk Poker.

I also love poker, I used to play A LOT online but there's a new law in France don't know what it consists in really but I can't play except on french rooms now.. My favorite player is Daniel Negreanu, he is entertaining.

I played a lot of online poker a while back. I was OK I guess but it was more of a phase that I went through more than anything. I've played a few times with friends for very low stakes and have come to the conclusion that it's better to just play online, mostly because my friends don't really know how to play poker all that well.

I like Daniel Negreanu. He is a very good poker player, one of the best readers, if not the best in the game and is a good personality for poker. Right now, I consider and a lot of the pros consider Phil Ivey the best all-around poker player in the game. IMO, he is going to end up having the most WSOP bracelets in the next few years. He currently has 8 bracelets and is only 3 behind Phil Hellmuth. As for online poker, I don't think I will ever do it. I'm very old school. I rather increase my skills in a live game than online. But that's just me.

I love poker as well. It's not hard to find a good poker game here on any given night in redneck country.

I'm not very good at it though so I try to limit myself... I don't like parting with my money.

I'm actually quite good at Texas Hold 'Em. Whenever me and my mates have Poker nights, I always win. Extremely fun, but being 17, I can't keep up with the game on a consistent basis.

Hoping to get into it once I turn 18.

Fuck your license. First thing you need to do when you turn 18 is go to Crown. Losing money is never going to be so fun.

Yeah, i'm reasonably good at poker. Prefer Texas Hold'Em but 5 card draw or omaha hold'em isn't bad. Generally try and get a poker night with the boys every now and again.

I played poker for the first time at a casino around a week ago, i had won a few games with my buddies so i thought it'd be a laugh. Bought in with £35...i thought i had a good hand with 2 pairs of a 2 and a 9.....got pushed into going all in. The other guy had a flush. hmmmmmmm

Flush beats two pair. You're pair of nines are a marginal hand on their own but you also had a pair of two's. It's not really a strong hand to call the all-in, TBH. You're opponent could have easily had a better hand that you in which case they had a flush. You had better opportunities to go all-in with a better hand. Don't forget to read the board and your opponent's hand, because they can have a better hand than you, either with their own hand or from help from the board. I have learned that over the years. I used to go with just my hand and then I would lose to a better hand because I didn't read the board or my opponents cards.

It put me off playing for a while. But, the only reason i bought in was because i was up £200 after playing some roulette.

I played in a small Texas Hold Em Tournament that a bunch of guys from local fire department put on a little while ago. There was 6 tables I think, probably close to about 50 people and I ended up finishing third, my dad got second.

So yah I do enjoy playing it. I am pretty horrible at closing a game out though. When it is just me and one person left playing, I am horrible. Can never ever clean up :(
