5/10 Nice grunge background but the banner needs a main focus, you could let the AJ pic stand out more either by making it bigger or a different color from the background, pics need to be blended more and the font is a good choice but it's unreadable.

Overall, make the pics bigger and lose the bar, it's been used to death.

Create new layer>ctrl + A>Edit>stroke 1px black to add a border.

And it's pretty good for your first try ,Look at some blending tuts and you'll do better.
And those lines don't look cool.

I don't like this. The BG isn't bad and the cuts are OK, but blending sucks and you can hardly see the text.
