Could it be possible that there are actually fans who really ENJOY AEW?
There is no one anywhere constantly Is praising the product saying it's amazing. Don't be delusional. Most people sre frustrated.

Currently the hardcore aew fans dont care about anything but pretending everything is fine then say its meh.. Even after they continue to question why nothing is working. Same reason they are brain washed to be excited about only debuts, returns and announcements. People should somewhat care about ratings. If people are not happy with the product it seriously fucking matters. If the product like it has is losing a lot of peoples interest and ratings flat lined and gone down from year 1 and ticket sales not as good, People should care. You dont need to obsess over it but when you're going opposite direction of where you were it really fucking matters. It will only continue to get worst and then what ? we just have everyone pretend its all rainbows and butterfly's and say everything is fine even though we dont praise anything anymore.

Im actually disappointed in the current aew fan base and how they act. Its only recently they are starting to be honest. Same people that couldnt see through codys bullshit until 3 years in.
Lol at this holier than though bs.

It triumphs anyone who cares about ratings.

While ratings are an important metric, in no way should they carry the same weight they did even 5 years ago.

I will just point out that, in 1998, "the time where wrestling was at his peak with 10 millions viewers every show" there was no streaming, and "channel surfing" was still a thing. It's not anymore. WWE is not going to just magically attract someone with no predisposition to watching wrestling to watch RAW on Monday nights. They have to specifically seek it out.

There are no "casuals" in 2023, who watch wrestling on a regular basis. No one is going to sit down and watch wrestling for 3 hours on Monday nights in this day and age of instant entertainment and streaming who doesn't have at least a passing interest in wrestling.

WWE has a wider potential audience than other pro wrestling companies because of its mainstream crossovers and brand recognition that's all.

Ratings matter in the real world, high ratings keep keep television shows and low ratings will get the ax. I just wish AEW would not run like a charity but like a business and release wrestlers and staff that don't bring AEW a profit.

This is such a weird rant. Ratings should "fucking matter" to people because ???? I like to look at ratings and mostly because I hope they do well even if I'm pessimistic about the current state of AEW. But they don't actually "fucking matter" to me. Ratings going up or down makes no difference to my life or enjoyment (or lack thereof) of AEW.

Im kinda a Casual Wrestling Fan when i watch a MMA or Boxing Fight or a Soccer Match i dont care how many people Watched the event or how much Money the Players make i have Fun with the Show and when its over i Move on
Imagine a AEW fan calling others nerds. Even when I was a misguided TNA zombie back in the day, I knew ratings were important. Because it's a true judge if what a promotion is doing freaking matters. If people were not willing to watch TNA and couldn't break the dreaded 1.1. it's because it simply wasn't good enough. And cause fans had been burned too many times. WWE have horrible ratings because they have been trash for decades now. It has been an erosion over time. If AEW don't have good rating is that they MAY do a decent product but it's for a small group of fans and not worth for a larger public to watch. It's simple fact and logic and mathematics. And you know what, "nerds" are the only one left watching right now.

As a niche/hardcore wrestling fan, I wouldn’t want a company I like to get quite that big. It’s like in pop music or blockbusters, casting the widest net and appealing to the biggest audience just means having the most polish and least risky content.

WWE is basically the Whitney Houston level mass appeal titan, doing mainstream at the highest quality. AEW is a newer mainstream radio act that’s less of a multi-generational household name and caters to a slightly more subversive audience, like Kendrick Lamar. Impact is a pseudo-famous mid-size club act like Arcade Fire. And GCW is the gritty DIY punk rock band none of your friends have ever heard of.
When it was at its most risky and edgy, WWE had their best ratings.

As you should, I watch New Japan, Japan, TNA, WWE, and AEW, its good to enjoy the product.

Why should i care if a Wrestling Company Lose Money or have Bad Ratings i dont Work for them i just Watch the Shows and have Fun with them only the Wrestlers and Bookers should care about Ratings and not all AEW or WWE Fans are the same i watch more Wrestling Beyond AEW
One of the most cringe things about these so called wrestling fans is that they are perpetually stuck in 1998.
Same people being defensive in here are the same peope that pretend the current product is amazing. What a hilarious topic for people to be mad at anyone talking about it. If you were so engaged in the product you wouldn't need to be here to be upset.

I never understood caring about ratings in general as a fan.

I just cared about enjoying the product. If it sucked, it sucked. If it didn’t, awesome. Either way, I love wrestling and I’ll watch it, anyway.

It's not a must, enjoy what you enjoy.

But personally I like to see it as judge of where things are. And that when you see things being not good and the ratings shows that, it may force companies to change and improve. Personally my taste is in "Big Time Wrestling" for all the years watching the WWF/E and WCW in their prime. I want to see big stars, I want to see companies being mainstream and successful so ratings are pretty important in that regard.

It's just one of those habits that was formed over the years for fans. People stream or torrent shows instead of watch live anyway.
Wrestling fans are nerds, what did you expect?
AEW fans were the ones that restarted this fixation with ratings. "1 million viewers" this, "demo" that, but now those things aren't as high as they used to be suddenly they aren't so important anymore.
