Once upon a maneuver2: Sleeper

What was once a finisher that gave many victories to the likes of Roddy Piper, it was first used by Jim Londos, popularized in America by Ed "The Strangler" Lewis who was a wonderful hooker/Shooter who taught the art of hooking to Lewis and was supposed to play on the jugular vein knocking out the opponent and not a choke maneuver.

The same move, Rear Naked Choke, from which the sleeper varies by the position of the second hand, as used by Samoa Joe is the more popular cousin of it being used by a few stars today.

What was once a good finisher started to lose it's value and has now currently been reduced to a momentum breaker by the stronger wrestler on the faster wrestler and almost every single guy who enters the ring breaks off the move when their arm is about to be dropped by the referee the third time.

It is being revived by the likes of Samoa Joe and Minoru Suzukhi but in the MMA form which it inspired.

Do you consider the sleeper a legit submission move and would you buy if a wrestler starts to win matches with sleeper hold, the MMA version or original?

Ofcourse its a legit submission move. It has become a rest hold in recent history though.
Adrian Adonis?????????? Anyone??????????
Does the Tazzmission count as a sleeper hold? Because he made that thing look badass.

Without getting too anatomical, Tazzmission aims at the cartoid artery while sleeper aims at the jugular vein giving the same end result. Tazzmission is a cobra clutch variation. But it looks a lot more badass when Tazz does it than when anyone else do it say Dibiase or Sgt Slaughter though old timers who saw them in action may beg to differ from us youtube classicist.

Brutus the Barber, baby. That said, I think the Sleeper is one of the most boring things to watch, short of the bear hug. I understand the purpose for rest, however.

Repped for starting that with "Without getting too anatomical..."

Additionally, I'll nominate Jericho - not because his sleeper was anything special - but because, like any of his submission holds, he would bark at the ref to ASK HIM throughout.
