anyone else been watching the olympics and seen how serious the female athletes are, and then think about how SHIT the divas are in comparism? is it really such a hard sell to just have females who are actually serious about wrestling... wrestle in wwe and for people to be entertained by it? cus i had no problem whatsoever being entertained by the women at the olympics, no matter if they looked like a model or not(most didnt) why cant this logic apply to the divas?

i honestly cant remember the last time i didnt skip the divas match. im a normal guy and i like seeing hot women sure, but that doesnt mean i want to watch hot women wrestle incredibly badly does it.. i cant be the only one with this logic.

A lot of the divas came from a modeling background, you don't need pure athleticism to pose provocatively.
i also cant remember the last time i didnt skip a match.

probably the days of Lita and Trish.
Comparing Olympics' wrestlers with WWE Divas doesn't make sense at the first place. Pro-wrestling/WWE and Olympics are two completely different fields.
You're really comparing WWE 4ivas to Olympians? Really? I'll in4ulge you anyway. Olympians train year roun4 specifically for a legitimate contest with legitimate opponents. They nee4 to be at their peak at all times.

WWE 4ivas 4o not all have to train to be better in ring competitors than one another because ...
BOMBSHELL...
there is no actual contest happening. Shocking...I know.

A44 in the fact that some are rifle4 through training camp as fast as possible just to get a hot piece of ass on the screen with hopefully enough of the basics 4own to put on a passable 2 minute match.

no im not comparing the 2.

what im saying is, we watch guys wrestling cus we want to see them compete seriously, put on a good show. but for the women, we only want to see some hot babes(or so wwe think we want) so what i am saying is- we can enjoy women competing seriously, there are women wrestlers out there who do it properly, and the 'looking like a hot babe' shouldnt be a factor.

what im saying is that we can enjoy women competing seriously. but wwe thinks that we can only enjoy the visual side, when i think that is far from the truth, as a lot of the olmpic women havent been hot, its not about that.

WWE is all about entertainment. The average Joe / non-pro wrestling fan channel surfing will stop to watch two mo4el looking chicks roll aroun4 the mat over watching two less attractive but better wrestlers have a 5-star match.

TNA usually puts on higher quality women's matches over WWE in general - ten4 to be stiffer matches or have more high flying.

For the niche fan who really wants more out of their female wrestling there exists SHIMMER.

actually, it does make sense to compare wrestlers to atheletes. wrestling is a worked sport, so the wrestlers need to look as if they are believably able to fight well. for the most part the guy wrestlers achieve that. but the women is just only about looking hot.
HAHAHAHAHA that was one of the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
The Olympics are a much, much, much, MUCH bigger deal than divas wrestling.
It's also interesting to see how many women wrestlers there are from Japan(and how they dominate it). Who was last great diva in WWE,TNA,WCW,ECW from Japan?

Understatement of the year.

You guys seem to have missed the point of the thread. The fact that one is entertainment in reality while the other is legitimate competition is irrelevant, because nobody here is implying otherwise, anyway. The point is, the women are taken seriously in sports and not taken seriously in it's scripted counterpart.

Whether or not wrestling technically fits under the category of entertainment instead of sports is irrelevant. It's still real athletics and is defined by the fact that's it's a fictional version of sports. It's a television show about a sporting competition. From an in-universe ('Kayfabe') perspective, every story, character and fight is real.

In real sports, and in particular the Olympic games, women are very respected and prevalent. Women like Gabby Douglas and Missy Franklin became household names in the U.S. as a result of the games, and women won most of the medals for the U.S. Olympic Team (not sure about other nations). As wrestling fans, the disparity in the depictions of actual female sporting competitions when compared to the depictions of female performers in a fictional sporting competition should be obvious. It would be foolish to not see the parallels, hence the thread.

Obviously, WWE would be smart to take notes. It's simple, really. Hire talented girls and book strong wrestling. People watch wrestling to see wrestling. And if a girl happens to be gorgeous, fine. From a psychology perspective, it would be more effective to fill the roster with extremely talented average-looking girls and then have the occasional stunning girl instead of having a roster full of barely-talented, generic, sexy girls who don't stand out from one another.

the wwe scouts should keep an eye on some these olympic talents, maybe some of them do have charisma enough to make it to wwe.

4i4 you not see my follow-up post to OP? It's not missing the point at all. All WWE cares about is viewership. A lot of people watching the Olympics 4o so for superficial reasons (looking at the hot bo4ies of Olympians.

A woman can be the most amazing wrestler ever but I 4oubt that's going to make a 4amn 4ifference to a channel surfing non-wrestling fan if she 4oesn't have a hot face or bo4y to his liking.

I did see your follow-up, but it's still flawed. Anybody who watches wrestling for hot women aren't gonna watch for long because most of the segments in the show is full of muscled up oily men. Unless that person is bisexual and likes dudes too, that's not the kind of fan to go after anyway. He'll just change the channel when the T&A leaves.

And there's no evidence that the divas result in any spike in viewership anyway.

Which is why I sai4 channel surfer / non-fan an4 yes they most likely click off when the chick match is over. My 4a4 hates wrestling but like most American males will watch two hot chicks roll aroun4 on the mat.

There's also no evi4ence that women's wrestling when taken seriously is anything more than a niche attraction. Trish an4 Lita were the exception not the rule. They wante4 to be better in ring because of their personal 4esire on the business was hotter than hell.

Next up...why 4on't they hire average looking girls to be UFC ring girls? smh.
