Stopped watching NXT after the first two seasons, which were actually good, then they all went downhill... Hope they cancel it soon - the current season never ends, and it's been a year now. Just give all of them contracts, WWE!

They all now officially have "contracts" and it's just WWECW 2.0 now, in which it's a bunch of young talent. It's gonna officially become WWE's official developmental soon, as FCW taped its last episodes.

I've heard amazing things about the NXT shows being taped at Full Sail. Can't wait to see them.

That being said, nothing wrong with Superstars. Puts on pretty good matches, usually.

Somebody (see: McMahon, Vince) killed the storylines, probably because he decided that he hated the way NXT was handling storylines (as in, featuring everyone instead of one or two people), so he killed it so no one would complain when they take their heads out of their asses and decide when to actually start airing the Full Sail NXT.

Your opinion on something you don't watch is worthless. Just so you know.

Prior to this and last week's episode, there were about 10 weeks or so of NXT that were best in series. Just figured you should know so you can stop sounding like the broken record track that we have in NXT forums.

(Who comes onto the NXT/FCW forums if they don't watch it, anyway?)

OP is preaching to the unfortunately small choir. The current NXT season with storylines was genuinely really awesome. It was great seeing the lower-carders personality and seeing how they did in unique stories (like the wedding angle or the kidnapping angle, just for starters). Now, the new NXT is on the cards (but god knows when) and the current NXT has become exactly as you've said - Superstars 2.0.

It fucking sucks, basically.

Yeah, even the current redemption season was fine when there were actual story lines, but now it seems it's just match after match. To be completely honest, I don't mind it at all, but we already have Superstars as the show to watch for the action.

Since when is there something wrong with having more to watch? I understand the whole "it used to be this and that", because I didn't watch it much after it went off TV. I'm sure it used to be fun, and I think I'm gonna go back and watch some of it. But there's nothing wrong, IMO, with another Superstars-type show. Just makes for more matches to watch and enjoy in the week. Even if some or most of the amtches suck, more matches = more chances for good matches.

Plus, the new season sounds like it's gonna be pretty fuckin epic.

Which really surprises me that the storylines were cancelled. I thought Vince loved soap operas? NXT was essentially to WWE what daytime soaps are to television. Simple, cheesy, dramatic stories that often times went over the top, but were memorable. It was the perfect mesh of soaps and wrestling. It was awesome for a viewer like me who loves storylines and new characters. Everyone had a little unique character quality that made them stick out. Johnny Curtis's creepy character was fantastic, especially with the psycho Maxine. The NXT Security fighting the face authority was different from the face fighting heel authority that we've seen for years and years, even to this day. The whodunit angle with Watson, McGillicutty, Kidd, Bateman, and Riley was interesting too as it could have gone many routes.

Alas, the stories are dead. Hopefully they come back or the new NXT debuts soon.

RIP NXT Redemption stories.

I think the main problem is that the storylines were happening just two weeks ago...

Lemme see how I can put this....

Let's say you have a favorite porn star that you've been watching for like 12+ of their videos...

Then they make 2 new videos and all they do is just lay there with a blank expression.

That's kind of what happened, yea you have a video, but there's really nothing going on.

Dropping the storylines didn't even lead to more actual matches anyway.
They could have at least had the decency to let the current NXT people wrap up what they were doing before killing the stories, especially since Full Sail NXT might not even air anytime soon.

Patience.

NXTFCW will be great.
I don't have that much confidence. I'm sure the first four episodes will be decent since WWE is trying to sell it to networks, but once the creative team has to focus on Raw and only Raw, it will decline fast. WWE is not going to invest in NXT. They can't even invest properly in Smackdown.

FCW is typically pretty good, so I'm hopeful that new NXT will at least be at that level. I'm certainly not expecting it to be as great as the last six months of NXT: Redemption were, but I anticipate still enjoying it more than Raw (which is pretty bad for the most part these days). The shows Vince doesn't care about tend to be more entertaining than the one (Raw) he puts most of his eggs into.

So you're saying we'll never find out who the backstage attacker was........

It seems like too much of a coincidence that the storylines stopped right when the news broke about the FCW and NXT becoming one, seems like Redemption is just treading water until they go live with the next project. In an ideal world, they'd have tied up the storylines that were currently running before merging with FCW, but, well, the WWE doesn't always do 'ideal'

I was enjoying the storylines as well. Reks/Hawkins vs. Regal, Maxine and Curtis handcuffed to each other and the "who done it" angle were something to watch. Now it is just bland. Even when Kaitlyn used Maxines move, Maxine didn't do anything. They basically traded the storylines for Khali and Jackson. lol.

Whatever the changes are about to be made with NXT-FCW, it needs to happen soon because what was so great about NXT was them doing silly things that you don't see on the other shows.

You know what's funny (not hah-hah funny but amusing to me funny): I just got done watching my first NXT episode and was surprised at how much I really enjoyed it.

Then I asked myself the inevitable question of why I liked it so much. And the answers came to me quickly:

1) the focus was almost exclusively on WRESTLING (remember that?)
2) the commentary was very loose (Regal does a great job of pretending there are many nuances to wrestling that only an experienced person sees)
3) the atmosphere was more relaxed and intimate if that makes any sense. They weren't trying to force RAW-level hype down my throat, they were simply showcasing today's wrestling talent.

Maybe it was a fluke, maybe I'll watch another NXT and hate it. But I'm starting to think today's RAW nonsense just isn't my thing as a wrestling purist.
