Should come out as participants revealed on the 16th, blocks on the 17th and the cards of each show on the 25th.

I wonder if they'll expand to 22 or 24 wrestlers or if they are content with 20 since Hangman, Elgin and Omega won't feature from last years card. Tama Tonga also said he wasn't that interested but that might be baiting some of his 'haters'.

Taichi, Moxley and Cobb likely direct replacements for the 3 that have left. Lance Archer was rumoured? Shingo and Ospreay wildcards, especially if they expand to 24. Any names I am forgetting?

Lucky for you that you're English because it makes watching live easier. Watching it live makes it much easier to watch than VOD even picking and choosing because of the amount of shows that happen in a short amount of time. If you do choose to VOD it, make it a priority to watch before any other wrestling otherwise you get overwhelmed with matches to watch really quickly.

Usually around 9 am to Half 10. But can be earlier on odd days.

So a month out I'm really hoping Mox is in the tournament, especially after today's match with Juice. Here's what I think the line up will be:

Chaos:
1. Okada
2. Ospreay
3. Ishii
4. Goto
5. Yoshi
6. Yano

LIJ:
7. Naito
8. Evil
9. Sanada

Suzuki Gun:
10. Suzuki
11. Fale
12. Taichi

Bullet Club:
13. White
14. Fale

Non Faction:
15. Tanahashi
16. Ibushi
17. Mox
18. Juice
19. Makabe
20. Cobb

If that's the field, I hope they can get Mox in the same block as Okada, Ibushi, and Suzuki.

When will they announce who all the competitors are? What are the odds Mox competes? If he does, how do you book him?
Since he's not gonna be at Fight for the Fallen. I'd be surprised if he wasn't in this. Look at his schedule...

Shota Umino on Sunday-6/9

Then back to US

Darby Allin on Friday-6/14 Indy show

Darby Allin on Saturday-6/15 Indy show

Joey Janela on Saturday 6/29 AEW Fyter Fest

Then he's wide open... until

Pentagon on Friday 8/16 Indy show

Pentagon on Saturday 8/17 Indy Show

Kenny Omega(likely)on Saturday 8/31 AEW All Out

So I expect him in Japan for most of July and early August. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a few more Indy bookings in states before Fyter Fest and All Out. It will be interesting how much he does outside of AEW once tv starts. He still might so random New Japan shows and else where on weekend for rest of the year. He said in 2020 he's gonna focus fully on AEW though.

The biggest reason I am clinging onto hope he will be in it is that he's the US champ.. surely they need the US champ in G1. (please)

This could end up being the best G1 of all time. And that's really saying something.

There are gonna be dream matches all over the place.

OK, so looking at the new announcements, I think the question becomes who do they leave out?

Let's look at everyone who could be in:

Chaos:

1. Okada
2. Ospreay
3. Ishii
4. Goto
5. Yano
6. Yoshi

LIJ:

7. Naito
8. Evil
9. Sanda
10. Shingo

BC:

11. White
12. Fale

Suzuki Gun:

13. Suzuki
14. ZSJ
15. Taichi

Non Faction:

16. Tanahashi
17. Ibushi
18. Mox
19. Kenta
20. Juice
21. Cobb
22. Makabe

Those are the 22 guys I could see being in it. Ospreay is Jr. Champion right now so he might not be involved. If I could I would get Yoshi Hashi the hell out of there.

I don't know who they leave out, but regardless it's a hell of a field.

This is a top 5 G1 based on Tama not being in it :dance

YOSHI tries his big heart out, but he's YOSHI. So, maybe his spot should go to someone else :mj2

As long as I get Yano in the same block as KENTA and Shingo, I'm all good :eek:wens3

I reckon Makabe and Taichi are up in the air for slots while everyone else on @TD_Stinger 's list is pretty much a lock (unless they want Ospreay working the undercard tags). If I was to pick, I'd take Taichi out of the three there. His matches will help pace the show better than Ospreay going 20 plus every night, even on the lower billing matches.

I remember they made such a story of Taichi not being in the G1 last year that I would be surprised if they left him out again. As for Yoshi, I mean someone's gotta lose all these matches but I'm just not interested in hearing the commentators say "he doesn't look comfortable in his own skin" or "he's still trying to break out" for the millionth time.

One guy I was hoping would be in is Lance Archer after his showing in the NJPW Cup but I don't see any way he gets in.

As far as the Jr.'s go, is there a true defined weight limit to these things. Like, is it possible for Ospreay to be in the G1 even as Jr. Champion? I mean the Jr. Champion doesn't do anything meaningful during the G1 anyways and I guess he could beef up for the tournament and the slim back down afterwards.

The only way this would be better is if Omega and Cody were also present.
