New York City plans to enact a far-reaching ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, movie theaters and street carts, in the most ambitious effort yet by the Bloomberg administration to combat rising obesity.

Was Kinda for it (maybe because I think the Supersize is a bit too much) but end the day like someone said in the clip they will probably just buy more than one so yeah nothing will really change. Just a waste of time that could be used elsewhere.

Maybe if a salad didn't cost $10, more people would opt to eat healthy instead of paying $5 for an entire combo at a fast food restaurant.

don't see how this will help at all, while i do admire them trying to help the obese, this won't help at all, i mean if they can't get that big ass size, what's stopping them from getting like two large drinks which will equal the same as the big ass size, its pointless

you know who can help the obese? the fucking obese...Why should the government assume responsibility for someones weight who chooses to do nothing about it? I say stop wasting time and money on telling us what we can and cant eat, and more time trying to, oh, i dont know, balance the fucking budget or something.

Apparently its the governments place to tell people what they can and can't do.. Obama is the same was as Bloomberg.

the government needs to stay out of peoples lives.. What next.. I can't eat red meat? I can't drink orange juice?

The government wants healthy people because the government has to pay for the health care of so many people. That's really what all of this comes down to. It's not the they care about people at all, they just want to save money.

Banning it really wouldn't bother me. I'll just get Coke Zero in a giant cup instead (has no sugar so wouldn't be part of the ban).

Okay, now here's my problem with it: you are banning something the FDA said was fit for consumption. If it's not fit for consumption, then ban it all together. Allowing it below a certain size is doing nothing to curtail the problem, except make it more expensive by forcing them to buy more of smaller quantities, which is hardly a deterrent. This accomplishes nothing except PR.
