I know this thread has been made more times than Cena has overcome the odds but I feel night of champions is the perfect stage for this to happen.
The entire build up to this match has been made on respect and value to the wwe championship.
On top of that, the current title is pretty much Cena's so going over him will allow for an actual reason to bring in a new title.

Also, WWE.com has just released an article looking back at the different WWE (and other) championships that have graced our television.

Remember when Edge said he was going to change the title into one that we would all respect and when he unveiled it, it was just the same fucking belt but with the Rated R Superstar logo instead of the WWE logo?

Punk mentioned at the August Chicago Comic-Con panel that the title design would change "soon". He further hinted by saying "Not SummerSlam, but perhaps a Pay-Per-View or so after it." Whether or not there is any truth to that claim, we will see.

As for the article, they are all run independently of WWE Creative. So I would not take this article as some kind of "hint".
