NJPW has announced that the New Japan Cup 2021 is coming this March.

The New Japan Cup starts on March 5 at Korakuen Hall and ends on March 21. The final matches will take place at Miyagi's Xebio Arena Sendai for the first time.

Below is NJPW's full announcement:

It's the biggest single elimination tournament of the NJPW calendar, and after 2020 saw New Japan Cup pushed to the summer, 2021 sees the tournament return to its spring slot. Just one day after NJPW celebrates its 49th anniversary in the fabled Budokan Hall, action will begin in Korakuen Hall on Friday March 5, before we head to Ota-ku on March 6, and then around the country, with events culminating on March 20 and 21. These final matches will see New Japan Pro-Wrestling action hit Miyagi's Xebio Arena Sendai for the very first time!

Stay tuned for more information on New Japan Cup 2021!

Last year's New Japan Cup ended with EVIL defeating Tetsuya Naito at Dominion in Osaka-jo Hall.
With those dates looks like we're getting another 32 man tournament.

I agree on Osprey. This has to be his. The only other one I can see winning ithis is someone like Master Wato..............j/k he's probably more of a jobber than Bushi at this point. This thing is either Osprey's or Shingo's (if Shingo loses the Openweight strap to Tanahashi)

Ospreay, Shingo, Ishii, O'Kharn, ZSJ or even Goto would work here.

Ishii and Goto in that it would be a great defence for Ibushi and deserved title shot for older guys.

Shingo in same way as Ishii & Goto in that it would be deserved, especially after his epic NEVER reign, even if he's still champ.

Ospreay or ZSJ in another guaranteed great defence for Ibushi but also help establish either as top gajin with Jay White.

O'Kharn is darkhorse but has had Okada in singles debut, Tana at WK and a NJ Cup win would instantly but him as uppercarder, even if he loses. Saves Ospreay and ZSJ for strong G1 to then as personally would rather Ospreay as G1 Winner this year then NJ Cup. Unlikely but cant NJ Cup winner winning both belts this year so unless they finally split, it will be Ibushi retaining so save Ospreay for G1.

Ospreay and Taichi sound like two good picks. I don't think they would do Ibushi vs. Okada, Naito, Tana, or White so soon. Ospreay and Taichi would be 2 cool picks to win the tournament but also guys you know Ibushi would beat.

Unless, Ibushi only defends one of the belts, like the IC Title. That would make things more interesting.
