Exactly. They catch you sharing it with other users so they take it as you're distributing copy written material, which you technically are. If you're on a public torrent server just end it right when its download, I never seed unless its a private site.

So its OK to download off torrent sites then? I'm a bit confused on the whole matter and as a result have just not downloaded anything for a good while now.

Some of them do. I read a story year back about isp contacting persons for downloading porn. Turns out it was gay porn and parents son was doing it.
I don't think it's legal, but they aren't going to go after you for downloading it. They are gonna go after the people making it available for others to get for free.

I download as much WWE stuff as I can. I used to buy the DVDs until I got a Blu-ray player and wanted everything in HD. Up until recently, WWE had a pretty shitty Blu-ray selection. Well, it still sucks, but at least they're putting their monthly shows on Blu now versus just Wrestlemania. So, I might re-consider buying them again when there is a show worth paying for. With torrents, I can get the 720p rip a day or two after the event, make my own cover art, put it in a case, and place it on my shelf. Does that make me less of a wrestling fan for not supporting them? Maybe. I couldn't care less, I'm not hurting Vince's pocket.
Most of my old WWE DVDs were impulse buys anyways, I just had money to burn and bought them. I'm a bit older now and money is tight, so I make cuts where ever needed. Hell, I haven't bought a video game in almost 2 years. I don't download those because my consoles aren't modded, but everything else I don't NEED/want for my collection I gank off the internet.
Downloading for me is just a lot easier. I got a notice from the MPAA for seeding some movies last year. It scared me, but I just noticed I gotta be more careful. Be mindful of what site you download from and don't seed unless you have to for ratio purposes.
I told my gf the day they punish file sharing/downloading with public hangings is the day I stop lol
