It's obvious that the real greats need multiple qualities to really succeed, but what traits are weighted higher than then others? for example, is it better to have great in ring ability, or great on the mic? (this will most likely come down to preference but I'm just curious which most people prefer)

WWE has proven time-and-time-again that mic work is far more important than wrestling ability. That's why guys like Cena, Rock, and Hogan are treated like Gods, while guys like Regal, Owen, and Perfect were never given a chance.

Charisma and ability to connect with the fans, nothing else is nearly as important, well maybe being able to wrestle without injuring your opponent.

Character/persona, promo skills, ability to get over and work the crowd, and ofcourse being able to work but thats the least important skill but it still means something to be able to work, but when put against the things that matter it comes later. Because if you cant talk the people into the seats, and keep them interested then it doesnt matter what the fuck you do in the ring. Its why Hogan, Cena, Rock, Austin are huge stars and the likes of Dean Malenko and Shelton Benjamin arent.

1-Charisma/mic skills (lumped them together because generally those with tons of Charisma can work the mic)
2-Work Ethic (ability to promote the product, work every night, never complain, loyal)
3-Ability to sell merchandise
4-Having a powerfull backstage backer

5-In ring ability

As long as you can put on a decent match without killing your opponent, your wrestling ability will never hold you back as long as you're a good talker who shits charisma and has a good look.
