Agreed! It's rare a guy on the indies can get heat simply by EXISTING. He's also not as bad a wrestler as people suggest. He's definitely not great technically and is prone to some dumb mistakes, but he's very comfortable on the mic, can take some serious punishment, isn't afraid to look ridiculous and can work a crowd masterfully. Tim Donst & Jakob Hammermeier are also incredibly effective rudos in Chikara.
As far as the rest of the independents, Joey Ryan and The Young Bucks are mega heels right now in PWG, though Ryan just flat-out sucks...so that may actual hatred. Now that Steen is gone and Corino is a babyface struggling to stay good, I find all of Ring of Honor's heels relatively ineffective. Strong blows as a bad dude, The Kings are just too awesome to truly hate, Bennett gets the X-Pac treatment, time will tell with the Briscoes and The Embassy NEEDS TO DIE. I also can't think of one true heel in EVOLVE or DGUSA who can also really go in a match.

LMAO judging by this forum yes. For some reason people really don't hate wrestlers on the indys. That is a problem that bookers like Gabe Sapolsky has to fix.

Young Bucks or Ryan??? Ryan used to be an awesome heel but not so much anymore. I don't really watch Chikara so i can't say anything about Icarus. There are no good heels in ROH at the minute, Roddy is god awful as a heel, Kings are freakin awesome and so never get booed and everyone else is pretty weak. Rave and Steen where great heels but they are gone now. ROH really needs a good heel again, Homicide was an epic heel back in the day, maybe time to turn him?

In addition to the names mentioned Austin Aries can be a great heel wherever he works when he really wants to be.
Claudio can be too though not as much in ROH.
(But seriously, people dislike Joey Ryan? Joey is the man. Top 5 on the indies imo)

Mike Bennett's clearly the next big heel in ROH, mostly because the fans aren't buying it. He's overpushed and everyone knows it.
Adam Pearce in the NWA was doing a great job as top heel (I say was because I'm somewhat behind right now and need to catch up)
