- When asked about his transition from "Pretty Boy" Floyd to "Money" Mayweather, Floyd Mayweather mentioned that Hulk Hogan was an influence in that change:

"When you look at the WWE at first, even like Hulk Hogan - he was Hulk Hogan, then he became Hollywood Hogan. It's all about re-inventing yourself."
2:50 in that video

One of the greatest boxers of all time saying that the greatest of all time in wrestling helped him reinvent himself. Why didn't he said Austin's name if he is the GOAT like some of you are saying? Hogan changed the business not once but twice and was a cultural pheonmenon and he didn't even had to go FULL TIME doing movies to achieve that status.

Just because he "changed the business" doesnt make him the GOAT. TF type of logic are you using. If Hogan was in the WWE right now he would be a jobber. Literally the only talent the dude has is his mic skills.

so you're not the GOAT if you changed the business not once but twice? :kobe. Then what makes you the GOAT? Doing flips, boring holds for 30 minutes that nobody cares about?

And loads and loads and loads of charisma. He would have dwarfed the current geeks with his larger than life presence. Charisma, promos and larger than life characters ARE pro-wrestling. But maybe you're right about the jobber part, most fans these days don't appreciate talent. All they want is flippy shit and superkicks.

I had a feeling that Floyd's "money" persona was similar to "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan when considering why the McGregor vs. Mayweather fight sold so well (because it had characters to tell a story).

Hogan is the GOAT the guy has been known a racist yet blacks still love him, and before he apologized they were saying "I don't think he really meant it" While they constantly light Trump up as being a closet racist.

He is untouchable. Along with his kayfabe accomplishments. That is what it means to be the GOAT. You can do and say the dumbest shit yet still have HUGE fan base behind you years after being retired, and exposed as a phony backstage politician.

Actually I don't think Hogan would be a terrible wrestler if he was around today.

He'd be average but able to get people into the match, with the workers of today his matches would probably be pretty great.

First of all, you need to drop your IWC mentality.

In wrestling, Charisma outweight all the other skills that you think a wrestler should possess combined, and Hogan is one of the two most charismatic wrestlers of all time(Rock being the other one).

Second thing, If you think Hogan wasn't that good of an in-ring performer then you should watch his japan stuff.

The same could be said for Flair. You think with his look and slowpaced wrestling style would be a star in todays wwe? Hell no. Even his promos would sound like shit with the way they would micromanage him. It's all about what you did in your era. Hogan is the undisputed goat. Him wrestling andre the giant at snm is the most watched wrestling event of all time. He was behind the two out of three of the biggest money making eras in wrestling.

The problem with fans who say Hogan would be a jobber today is that without Hogan who the hell knows where this business would be today.

If that isn't the sign of being THE GOAT I don't know what is. Hell, the two guys who have legitimate claim to rival Hogan both say Hogan was born for this and one was even a Hulkamaniac.

Hogan was not a jobber in WCW which had LOADS of workers that were great in the ring and maybe one of the deepest rosters ever.

The argument has no merit really.
