All depends on who his follow up opponents are. Like what are some marquee match ups that would maintain the momentum??
Champ that can't win a match clean? Not going to go well.
Who knows. Let it behind first ffs. But for the sake of the game.. I will go positive.
Massive success for the first two weeks and a HARD fall from grace from there. Tony cannot help himself into booking really really retarded shit. Expect some stupid gag or segment where at MJF's expense he'll be made to look like a clown to put some pos jobber that doesn't deserve to be signed to begin with like danhausen.
Roman Reigns has defended his titles seven times in eleven months this year. Is he a flop or is that okay because Fed gud, Dub bad?

I'd like to see the champion wrestle regularly, defend his title around once a month and work tags in the build-up. Pretty sure MJF will have to lace up his boots more if he wins the belt. Omega is the only champ who got away with some longer gaps between defenses and that was because he was also defending two other titles in other promotions.
Why discount the times he defended at houseshows, some of those like Vancouver some of the biggest attendances of the year..

7 times I haven't actually counted but that still more times than MJF has worked a match this year...

Most WWE house shows are not canon or recognized on TV unless it's MSG or something major like a title change (such as the Diesel/Backlund match). In the eyes of John Doe and WWE lore itself, Reigns' defenses have been those on TV and PPV.

I've heard commentators say so-and-so's last defense was at [RAW/Smackdown/PPV], completely ignoring the repeat matches they run on the house show circuit. If WWE had a detailed title lineage with defenses listed a la NJPW, I'm pretty sure they'd exclude house shows unless of a title change. It'd also make the challengers look weak as anything losing every single time while they were being sold as a threat on TV. McIntyre has lost something like 20 times to Reigns in the past year on the house show circuit.

Plus he was working injured for most of it.

And everyone goes out of their way to blame the Young Bucks, right @LifeInCattleClass ? Lol

Two title defences, not much positive to say...
Think it's been decent so far?? His programs w/ Starks, and Danielson were pretty good & this 4 pillars feud is filler but still enjoying it for the most part.

He will be a champion who will hardly wrestle. Just be there for promos like he is. So to me he will flop.
I agree. He has been a flop since he became a champion. Very try hardy. Even his matches look like a circus show.

MJF's title reign is a flop now. It wasn't back then, just starting off slowly. This pillars storyline turned it into an absolute failure. His desperation to force Sammy Guevara on us killed his own heat, and Jungle Boy fucking sucks at every aspect of character work in the professional wrestling industry.

Tony Khan is too much of an idiot to realize how much these two are ruining the main event. I literally knew from day one and it's documented in the first post of this thread that he would make the reign a complete disaster with his shitty booking and repeated failure to read the room.

When a question like this is asked it's a big indicator that the title reign has been a flop or at best mediocre. If a title reign is going on great u would just know.

What defines a success and what defines a flop?

Yes, that's exactly what OP wants you to subjectively answer. What is your stance on this?
MJF has been awesome during this reign, but AEW trying to make lower card level talents like Bland Boy, Sammy Guevara, and Darby Allin happen is sinking it. I'm not blaming MJF because he has held up his end. Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Connor McGregor, or any big name that you could think of couldn't make Darby Allin, Bland Boy, and Sammy Guevara interesting.

They stick him away from the fight and the bigger guys.

Like they want to protect his credibility even tho he has any.. It's quite sad but I think the dude is not meant to carry a world title.

Amazinc talker and heel, but he's just got zero physical presence.
