Remember when Punk got put back on the WWE website and people said it didn't mean anything?

For reference, I don't think MJF is leaving AEW, but let's not pretend that a website change can't possibly mean anything.
If they didn't take him off, it'd be confirmation that he's re-signed, which is pointless without some kind of pomp and circumstance surrounding it.

Spears, QT Marshall and Andrade, whose contracts also expired (for real) today, were removed. So by keeping MJF on, you'd be telling the world he's re-signed his contract, which you want to do in a more interesting way.

If I'm AEW, I'd stay quiet while he's recovering and use it for the big return moment, where he could bring his old pals with him to show he means business.

(the turnbuckles got my attention but probably mean nothing)

I'd be astounded if he went to WWE at this point as I think there is still so much for him in AEW

I imagine we're hearing from Cole on dynamite this week and so assume we'll hear how he and his team drove Max out of AEW and this is just part of the story

I do think it'll be Revolution before we see him again so all the talk leading into the Rumble will be fun 🤣

Turning face appeared to kill the Bidding War of '24 angle which began several years ago really. But his world ending at Worlds End coinciding with the new year can be used as a way to give it some meaning.

MJF can be presented as a renegade freelancer who brings in non-contracted talents (Hammerstone, Holliday). This would be a major evolution of the MJF character into something less comic and more serious, which he showed signs of doing with his infamous worked shoot promo on Tony Khan ("fire me, you fucking mark!") before kind of returning to type after his full return. It could also mean him being neither a white meat babyface or classic heel, therefore it doesn't damage his marketability.

It's a path I would explore if I was in charge anyway, and it'd get something out of all the groundwork they laid for MJF's contract 'running out'. You can always go back to vintage MJF in the long term, it'd be fresh again by that point.

MJF has already had his own group with Wardlow/Spears. That would just be a rehash of something done before where he’s the frontman and the underlings do the dirty work. I wish AEW would stop with the factions.

For instance a Swerve/MJF feud needs nothing else but just those 2
