Honestly he should go to TNA lmao

Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp has learned that Miro, formerly Rusev, has asked for his release from All Elite Wrestling.

Miro hasn't wrestled for AEW at all in 2024, last winning a match at AEW Worlds End 2023. We're told that Miro was sidelined longer than AEW expected after that match, but has been healthy for quite some time. There was some consideration internally to use him in the AEW All In Casino Gauntlet, and he had pitched working with Jon Moxley earlier this year. Miro and AEW were unable to get on the same page creatively, something that became somewhat common for the two sides over recent years.

Miro worked only seven matches for AEW in 2023, and has only wrestled 11 matches since December 2021.

We've not learned if Miro was granted his release or if there's interest from WWE. Miro is earning into the seven figures. Miro had signed a contract upon joining AEW in September 2020 that was set to expire in Spring 2022. However he signed a four-year extension around that time, that could still have him with AEW until Spring 2026.

People are going to say that "He refuses to do the job" or "He refused to do this storyline" which all came from Meltzer who also claimed the same about the House of Black and them wanting out, then Buddy Mathews resigned with AEW so I am not gonna take his word on what people have refused or anything like that.

I am also gonna point out this isn't the first time Sean Ross Sapp has claimed someone has requested their release and he has been proven wrong(He claimed Black asked for his release in AEW which Black said he didn't on twitter) so taking this with a gain of salt but if he does want to go, let him.

I feel the same with WWE and any talent who requests their release nowadays. They aren't classed as Employees after all but "independent contractors" after all so just let them go.

Didn't Tony say they were going to be employees and not contractors when AEW was being formed?

Yeah I agree with letting Miro go. Sucks and I liked the guy, but if the reports about denying creative are true then screw off my guy, WWE never gave you any creative freedom and now you're all of a sudden feeling like you're entitled enough to deny creative in the smaller company? He thinks he's too good for anything but the main event clearly.

He can go back to WWE but he's gonna do exactly what they tell him to do. There's no talking back. If they want to book him in another cuck angle he can't say shit. If they want to keep him in the mid-card he can't say shit. He ain't winning no main event gold over there.

But realistically I think Miro might be done with wrestling, I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw him again. He's been in Bulgaria this whole time after his divorce.

He can have career resurgence in WWE as a foreigner heel, that was the best work of his career .
Imagine the heat if he plays the Russian sympathizer gimmick now in 2024.
I don't see him as main eventer but he could definitely be solid upper midcard talent he had charisma and great in ring worker

Backstage at Dynamite:

Christopher Daniels: Miro has asked for his release.

Tony Khan: Tell him we have big plans for him. When MJF is back, we can make him MJF’s bodyguard again and recreate the magic with another split leading to a big match.

CD: Umm, he was never MJF’s bodyguard.

TK: Sure he was. And he squashed MJF at the PPV and then had a big feud with security guards. It was brilliant booking, if I do say so myself.

CD: You’re thinking of Wardlow.

TK: Right. I realize we haven’t used him lately, but tell him to hang in there.

CD: Miro is a completely different guy.

TK: You’re shitting me.

CD: No. Miro came from WWE, he wore pajamas and played video games and then we put him in a wedding angle.

TK: I thought that was Wardlow.

CD: No, Miro is Bulgarian and he was married to Lana.

TK: The dentist? I thought she was with Adam Page.

CD: You’re thinking of Britt Baker. She was with Adam Cole. We haven’t used either of them in ages either.

TK: Not even on ROH?

CD: Honestly I have no idea. Nobody watches that show.

TK: How am I supposed to keep up with all these people I never use?

CD: (under his breath) That’s the fucking point.

TK: What was that?

CD: I was just thinking how unfair it is. You’re only one man.

TK: Well, tell Miro or Wardlow or whatever his name is that we have big, big plans for him.

CD: Sure.

Another wrestler in AEW who was getting paid to sit at home instead of bringing him in to help the show get better ratings and help the company grow. It’s sad to see what AEW has become. Tony has so many wrestlers that can make the show better but never books them or books them without a proper feud and story! When was the last time Miro was even on tv? Where has Wardlow been?Adam Cole being ”the devil” and attacking MJF what happened to that story? That bs they pulled when MJF came back was a waste of a good story. I was a huge fan of AEW when they first started but they went downhill so fast. It’s all Tony’s fault. Rusev was only good in wwe because he had Lana to talk for him. He will not survive in wwe without her unless they give him a new mouthpiece better than Lana.

At this point I don't see the point in keeping him. He's wrestled like 10 matches in the last 3 years due to injury and disagreements. Even if the idea was you didn't want WWE to have him, what would they be getting at this point? I guess there's this "idea" of Miro having this big monster run in WWE that would keep TK from letting him go, but that doesn't seem worth keeping him around at this point.

Well the rumour was the first thing he refused to do was lose to Orange Cassidy in a tournament match. So I dont blame him for refusing to do certain things.

If he's being asked to lose to prune's like Jack Perry, Daniel Garcia, Orange Cassidy or any other prune that Tony Khan can relate to then I don't blame him. Its a ridiculous visual that hurts his appeal to the audience. He did it with Sammy Guevara, and whilst that title change finished the TV title, the lack of consistent follow up finished Miro. It became a joke that he lost his fight with God because we didn't see him for so long.

The story is there for Rusev now to gradually build to a top level feud with a competent booker. Without Lana there is nobody distracting him or holding him back anymore.
