When i think of the greatest mic workers of all time, the same names always come to mind, Jack Roberts, Vince Mcmahon and Mick Foley, those three names are three of the greatest of all time when it comes to cutting a promo .now in this thread i'm going to make my case for Mick Foley to be the greatest of all time.
To really see the best of Mick Foleys promos you have to go back to ECW when he was playing the Cactus Jack gimmick, back in ECW Mick's promos where so intense and could make you believe everything he was saying in his promos was true, he could pull you into his story and his gimmick like it was real life and for a split second makes you forget that wrestling isn't real, and this is all a gimmick that Mick Foley is playing, no one else has ever made me believe that its real like Mick did.
Mick's promos wasn't just about what he said, but how he said it and the body language that he used. the best way to see this is to watch the Cane Dewey promo from ecw, you can see the lack of eye contact that Mick uses here and the tone off his voice changing word to word, its psychology that you just don't see from anyone else.
I believe that no man in the wrestling business has the ability to make you believe every word he says is true like Mick Foley did and thats what makes a great mic worker, its not about getting pops from what you say, a good promo should make you believe every word being said is true like Mick Foley did back in ECW, and that is what makes him the greatest of all time.
