WWE is successful for one reason and one reason only, and that's because it's only source of competition comes from a wrestling company that calls itself Total Nonstop Action (actually just saying that name out loud makes me throw up in my mouth a little. Seriously, what fucking boob thought that would be an attractive name for a Wrestling company?). Anyways, they bank on the fact that fans have no where else to turn and that people will be fooled by the shining lights and the pretty bow. The truth is when you look past the high production values and the stellar video packages, the actual product is on fucking life support and has been for quite some time.
The booking is no more logical and not much more sensible than WCW's was when it was at it's lowest. Nothing means anything anymore, no one cares, and things just... happen. R-Truth in the title picture? Okay, sure. Wait, no he's not. Not anymore. This week he's out and he's turning heel. Just ignore the entire last week's episode and pretend there wasn't a gauntlet match and pretend there wasn't a grueling match up between Truth and Cena, and forget there was an announcement that Truth would be in the main event.
The Rock is going to be at Wrestlemania! Awesome! I'm so looking forward to it. What's that you say? After the double count out, he came out and extended the match... only to end it moments afterward? What's that? He cost Cena the title? What's that? Now he's fighting Cena at NEXT year's Mania? And now Cena gets another shot at the title at Extreme Rules? Great! I'm so glad I got caught up in all the Mania hype which amounted to absolutely nothing!
The list goes on and on. There's no reason to watch anymore. Nothing happens. I hated the Nexus angle, absolutely hated it... but they put too much into it not to carry it out. Cena's fired? Wait, no he's not. He's back the next night. Nexus then splits for no apparent reason and... well, you know the rest.
You can't convince me that WWE Creative knows the direction each show is going to take from week to week. It's painfully obvious to everyone watching that these shows are concocted on the fly over cocktails... the night before. There's no storytelling, there's no booking, and there's no art. No there aren't Viagra-On-A-Pole matches, and no David Arquette isn't winning world titles... but they did put the strap on a reality star, and they did have DX attend Little People's Court underneath the ring.
