But WWE had nothing to do with it. So... James Durbin owned TNA.

It's because they probably have no clue what TNA is, nor would anyone have any clue what the TNA title was.

Didn't I also hear a "Dixie Sucks" chant at the Press Conference? Steph started cracking up at that one.

i don't get your point. Hogan's life and Self Promotion(hulkamania brand, rent a center, etc) doesn't run through his employment with TNA. Another thing WWE doesnt need promotion(60 years running) and Wrestling fans already know about TNA. Whats your point?

i was pretty pissed that hulk didnt wear a tna shirt, he was self promoting himself and not tna. bringing a tna belt and shirt would have been good. although i was reading an article and it said that james himself is a wwe fan

His point is WWE capitalized on Hogan's appearance on American Idol and TNA didn't. They pay Hogan big bucks and the OTHER company that doesn't have him under contract capitalized and got promotion. It's just proving that once again TNA's marketing is awful. Not sure how you can't understand that?

Unintentional ownage

OR

The concept of Hogan and WWE go together like french fries and ketchup and nobody, outside of TNA fans, knows that Hogan is a part of TNA. And WWE knew how to capitalize on the Hogan appearance last week.

so everytime hogan appears for whatever, whether it be rent a center or whatever. Bring a TNA shirt? lol. Even if he had it on that american idol deal had NOTHING to do with wrestling. He wasn't there to interview or promote a product. If he had the shirt on people probably would even noticed.

Are you serious? Hogan is a prominent TNA employee and has been heavily involved in promoting them 'raising the bar' and pushing on. He should, at least, be wearing a TNA shirt and namedropping them when he's on these sort of shows.

Of course the WWE needs promotion. The fact it's existed for 60 years isn't going to make new fans tune in, they need to promote the product to attract new viewers. Think about it, why does Coca Cola buy premium advertising time when they're one of the biggest brand names on the planet?

Wrestling fans may know about TNA, but they're not watching. If TNA gets 2m tuning in, they're still getting just one third of the viewers that Raw's second hour had this week. If they can get that up to half of those people watching, they've increased their viewership by 50%.

Promotion, advertising and your workers selling your product to as many people as possible- those are the cornerstones of the wrestling business. TNA and the WWE aren't bringing in people from the Jersey Shore cast for their entertainment value, it's because they're trying to attract whoever they can from the show's huge number of viewers.
