So I've been talking to a few people on here and I was curious if anyone had some interest in doing some sort of tournament/game/etc. I've received two ideas recently, one from The Bad Guy and one from KingRo™.

The Bad Guy's idea: BTB NXT

BTB NXT said:
It's an idea where we take veteran bookers from here and team them up with some of the newer people and try to pass down some of their tools of the trade. Each week the rookies would be given an assignment of some sort to write and the veteran would work with the rookie to try and hone their skills. Then the judges would proceed to review each assignment and grade them. To make this work the best, no one would be eliminated from this but we would have standings. Obviously for this to work we'd need the same number of veterans and rookies but I'm sure we could figure that out, if someone wanted to take two rookies under their wing or something.
If I left something out or was wrong about something, Bad Guy will correct me later tonight but I think I got the premise down.

Now for KingRo™: (Just copied out of the PM he sent me)

Sign ups will be open for a week -- any booker can sign up. At the end of the week, the moderators and/or judges will select four team captains. The team captains will then over the course of an extra week draft members of the master sign up list until every booker has a team. If the numbers are uneven, the team with the lowest amount can select a mod/judge to aide them. Let’s say the teams are below; (excuse the generic ass names).

Team “Lightning”, led by Nige:
PunkFan101
JustinFrank
Lotus
Killswitch

Team “Phenom”, led by Melvis
KiltedWarrior
WrestlingGawd
LigerTiger
Slevin

Team “Awesome”, led by KingRo
HankHunt
Gunner2347
HeymanFan
Disciple

Team “Justice”, led by Brye
CellularSam
Superman
GreatOne301
Orion’s Belt

Every week for the amount of weeks each team has members (for instance, if the teams are split evenly with four bookers, the competition will last for four weeks,) we will post a new category of writing, and the captains will discuss amongst their team who will compete in that category. They will let us, the judges know, and we’ll post up the category. For example;

Week One: Wrestlemania Entrance (2,000 Word Limit) – ONE MEDAL
(Select A Superstar; Triple H, The Undertaker, John Cena, Randy Orton)
Team Lightning Rep.; Lotus
Team Phenom Rep.; Slevin
Team Awesome Rep.; Disciple
Team Justice Rep.; Orion’s Belt

The categories would be judged by which writer BEST wrote their respective category -- Not who wrote it the longest. Basically, whomever paints the best picture wins. So let’s say “Team Phenom” won the Week One competition, they would win a “medal” for their team. We’d update the first post with the medal count after every competition.

OVERALL MEDAL COUNT;
Team Lightning; 0 Team Phenom; 1 Team Awesome; 0 Team Justice; 0

Then we would move on to week two.

Week Two: Ladder Match (5,000 Word Limit) – TWO MEDALS
(Select A Match; Edge vs. Rey Mysterio, Shelton Benjamin vs. Kane, etc.)
Team Lightning; Nige
Team Phenom; Hank Hunt
Team Awesome; Murph
Team Justice; Superman

Okay, so this week, Awesome takes it home.

OVERALL MEDAL COUNT;
Team Lightning; 0 Team Phenom; 1 Team Awesome; 1 Team Justice; 0

So we move on to the following weeks doing the same thing.

Week Three: Interview Promo (3,000 Word Limit) – ONE MEDAL
(Select A Match; Kurt Angle, Alberto Del Rio, Damien Sandow, Chris Jericho)

Week Four; Legend vs. Current Superstar Match – TWO MEDALS
(Select Your Legend: Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, Sgt. Slaughter)

Then we get to the final week, where it’s down to the team captains.

Week Five; FOUR-MATCH RAW – THREE MEDALS
(Select Your “Main” Storyline; Love Interest, Team Rivalry, Returning Superstar)
Then it would be up to the team captains to assign a match/promo to their team’s members and collect them to post a RAW show. The best show by presentation and description would take home the medals.

Then it’s simple: The team with the most medals wins the tournament.
So obviously we have these two ideas. Feel free to comment on your thoughts on them and if you're interested. But also feel free to post your own idea. Remember, we can easily do more than one of these and if there's a bunch of good ideas, we can do all of them over time!

Also, would need some people to help me out with the judging and such. Preferably some people with experience judging before but anyone with some ambition works, tbh.

So let me know what you guys think. :)

Like I said before, I really like the NXT idea. If that comes to fruition, I would definitely up for being a Vet. If it came down to it, I would be willing to take two or three 'rooks' in.

If my idea goes up, then I would be up for either cap'n, or judging. (I would prefer to judge, but it is what it is.) Either way we do have two solid team/section building ideas here... but I look forward to seeing what other people might come up with as well. LETS DO ITTTTT!!!

Wow. Both these ideas sound really great, kudos to Bad Guy and KingRo. I'd wanna be a rookie, just throwing it out there. I think that KingRo's idea may be a little better but it's also the one that'll take less time. Hopefully we do actually do one of these. Cheers guys! (Y)

A few people know me, but most don't. I've been BTB-ing on and off for a few years but haven't been doing it for over a year. I've had parterships with OML and JDawgWWE. A couple others but I don't remember. I would love to be mentored. I like the whole standings thing, but if there would be eliminations, it would lower the amount of no-shows you'd receive.

Seems like most are in favor of NXT so far... sounds good, but we would have ALOTTTT of rookies it seems. Like I said, I could take two or three under my wing, but the idea would rely on a few of the oldheads getting in on it as well. Hopefully more of 'em chime in here.

I actually prefer KingRo's idea a little better.Don't get me wrong there both great. But if it came down to it i will be a Rookie. Hopefully we can get one of these started as it might bring more attention to the BTB thread and maybe inspire others to do threads on here as well. One question tho: If we are part of this does it mean we have to stop our own personal BTB thread?

Well if things are the way they WERE, then I can say no. Extra-curricular competitions in the section don't warrant bookers to stop their thread. Although, many bookers in the past have voluntarily put their threads on hold in order to focus on writing for the competitions. It's a focus thing for some people... but yeah, I'm sure Brye wouldn't make any of the competing bookers shut their threads down, so long as they all keep in mind the fact that everyone enrolled in the competitions should put equal effort into the competition and put their team and responsibilities therein FIRST. Just a common courtesy for fellow bookers, you know. But I suppose that's ultimately the call of whomever ends up in charge.

Ideas all have potential, but there's been like 6 threads posted in them in the space of 24-48 hours... so factor in that... and then say half the bookers running those threads take part in the games/tournament ideas... then all of a sudden... there will be no point checking in on the section for a whole month.

^^ And why is that? There's always the chance that not EVERY booker will stop their thread (I for sure won't, whether I'm mentoring or judging)... nor is there certainty that EVERY booker will participate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying the tourny/competition won't be worth checking in on as well? Or are you saying that there will be a ton of competitions going on at once, because I don't think that's the idea.

Just saw this, I wont be active as much this coming week with military stuff and real life occurances, but I'd be willing to help out if it starts in a weeks time. Taking a rookie, or a few under my wing or whatever.

Very happy that it has been getting positive reviews, cause either of the ideas could either help the activity and the younger, newer writers grow and get better. I know a couple of years ago when I was new to the BTB ordeal, I would have killed for someone to explain to me and check out my work to see how it was.

It's all well in theory, but these things never go according to plan for one reason or another. AND quite often bookers say they will continue their threads yet when the time comes around they don't. You can only speak for yourself, but history agrees with me.

And no, I don't think these ideas will be worth checking. The threads that I tend to read are from people smart enough to know not to bother with these things.
