So John Lennon, one of the worlds most influential and accomplished musicians was gunned down nearly 32 years ago, his killer Mark David Chapman is up for parole for the 7th time. While it's 99 percent likely he WON'T be released, what would you have done if given the choice? Put the motherfucker in the electric chair? Keep him in prison until his miserable demise? Or would you say, its been 32 years I'm sure he's learnt his lesson, release him. Personally I would let him rot in prison for all eternity.

I think everyone deserves a second chance.
32 years is a long time.
Making him rot in prison or killing him won't make him regret killing Lennon more than he has.
By letting him go, he has a chance of making a family, and just to start his life.

Well the truth of the matter is, if he was released I'm sure there's some very angry people that might take matters into their own hands and kill him anyway.

Just because he killed a famous person shouldn't mean he should be treated any differently from other murderers. He should be given a second chance but as long as he can prove he is willing to change for the better. I don't know if that is the case, but 32 years in prison is a long ass time. If it was me, I know I would have learned my lesson after that amount of time.

Learnt his lesson? Chapman is fucking mentally insane.

He should be kept away from society for the rest of his life. Even if he was released, he would probably get killed by an angry fan.

Well, release him into mental health care then. Just because he has mental issues doesn't mean he can't change.

As Half Man Half Biscuit sang

"I shout all my obscenities from steeples,
But please don't call me a madman,
I'm off to see the Bootleg Beatles,
As a Bootleg Mark Chapman."

Isn't Chapman mentally ill? Death would be unfair but letting him out isn't an option in my opinion, he should be locked up for the rest of his life both for his sake and others.

Keep him in prison for life. He can't be allowed in society, he's insane. Not to mention, if you let him out, somebody's just gonna kill him in retaliation. He pissed off millions of people. Getting out is probably the worst thing that could happen to him.

As far as I'm concerned if you kill someone you should spend the rest of your life in jail. I don't believe in second chances for murderers, regardless of who you kill.
I could think of plenty of scenarios where killing could be deemed necessary(self defense, military service, etc.). Chapman's case isn't one of them however.

I think if it's an act of self defence it's s not classified as murder. There are different degrees of murder however, ones that are premeditated and unprovoked like this one are the worst. Ones where you might be provoked and rage, well there's a chance that those people could be rehabilitated.Lennon was a peaceful guy with not an enemy in the world, so I can only put an act of murder on him as insane, just like child killers, they should be locked up and throw away the key.

Doesn't mean he will change either. A lot safer to keep him locked up if he still as mental health issues.
Well, that's true. If he is still deemed a danger to society, then yeah, keep him locked up. Best not to take chances if that is the case. I simply meant if he has shown signs of change and can show he is a better person now, he should be given a chance, but according to many, he is still messed up.
