Any unpopular opinions as far as ecw legends go? I'm watching Hardcore TV which made me think of this... Mine are

1. Tommy Dreamer: I just couldn't take him seriously as the "innovator of violence" and face of ecw. He was always a pretty boy to me. He took a couple nice bumps from Brian Lee, but that IOV tag was a bit much for me.

2. Sandman: He gets all of my respect for getting beat up, but his matches just seemed like glorified backyard wrestling matches because of how sloppy he was.



I'll let you guys name people from other Feds as I'm sure I'll ruffle some feathers if I start first.


Edit: Bill Alfonso should be #1 because he's literally the only person that's every made me mute matches (and amazing ones at that) because of the whistle. I wish he'd gotten fired before that Beaulah match.

New Jack is a piece of shit lunatic. Fucking don't pick up good vibes from him at all.

Sandman was absolute garbage. His saving grace was his entrance.

Sabu botched more moves than had them follow through but I respect him because he puts it all out on the line.

Maybe The Dudley's, Pitbull #2 , Amish Roadkill, Rhyno?

But if I never saw Tommy Dreamer again.... How does a Rickey Morton babyface get so over in ECW? ECW fans were so "smart" and yet they cheered the heck out of guys like Sandman, New Jack, Dreamer, and others.

No, there's a difference between being hated by getting real heat, and being hated because you blow a whistle so much that no one can concentrate on the match.

I thought about Credible, but questioned whether he's an ECW "legend" or not. I actually liked Doring, and Corino worked the crowd well.


I see a lot saying Sabu, but I think Sabu was actually a good worker. He blended hardcore, high-flying, and technical like no other. He was definitely sloppy sometimes, but he was constantly putting on insane matches, so I can't be mad.

Re: New Jack, he came to mind as well, but he was what he was... A pure brawler/hardcore guy. I appreciated that his solo matches didn't go on very long, and his tag matches were carried by other performers.

The Dudleys (whole family included) in ECW was arguably the greatest group of the 90's. They did so many things so well.

Well considering you're dropping the f bomb for no real reason other to do it and talking about WWE in a thread about ECW in a completely different time period.. For me if he counts Amish Roadkill, never saw the big deal behind Credible, and to an extent New Jack

Looking back, I don't think there are many ECW guys that I actually like. But to answer your question, it's easily New Jack. A waste of an excuse for a "wrestler". Actually, calling him a wrestler is such a stretch.
