Last week on smackdown, Sheamus fought Kane on TV. Then they fought eachother in a cage match. I'm just wondering what was up with that? Does the WWE usually have the same match twice in the same show? Did the matches happen one after the other? It would be weird to see Kane fight Sheamus and then have the show end then just be like okay... cage match...

I don't know much about this stuff so just wondering if somebody could explain it to me. Thanks!

One was a dark match (i.e. only seen by the in house audience). I think they do it to make sure they get their money's worth after sitting through hours of crap such as re-takes and Superstars.

No I get that, but what did they do, immediatly drop the cage after Sheamus and Kane had just fought on live television? Meaning they would have done 2 straight matches...

its normal on a live show as a dark match. The people that attended get surprised and feel happy to get an extra match with the face winning.
