Looks like this match is going to happen at EC, which is awesome. But will it be for the IC title? Del Rio doesn't really need it, unless they want to make his match at WM at "title for title" match, which really wouldn't make sense. But I also can't see Kofi going over Del Rio clean at EC, so it would almost have to either be a non-title, or end in some kind of DQ.

Personally, being a Kofi Kingston mark, I'd like to see the match be "IC Title vs #1 Contendership", with Kofi either winning it or having some controversy that leads to a triple threat match at Mania with ADR vs Kofi vs Whoever wins the EC. I know that's unlikely, but I think it would be cool.

I doubt the IC title will be on the line. Could be a pretty good match though.

Kofi Kingston is being used as enhancement talent for Del Rio imo. He's just someone for Del Rio to beat to build credibility en route to Wrestlemania where he wins the world title.

I am still split on Del Rio, but him winning the Intercontinental Title and moving on to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Edge at WrestleMania, all "being a part of his destiny", would be pretty sweet.

Del Rio won't walk out as IC champ. There's no reason for him to. Besides, only a few guys have ever held a world title and a midcard title simultaneously (Ultimate Warrior in 1990 and Shawn Michaels in 1997), and both unloaded the midcard title almost immediately after winning the world belt. I don't see the point in putting the IC title on Del Rio, then having him get rid of the belt a month later.

This is still all good news for Kofi Kingston, even if he's being merely fed to Del Rio (which I'm 99% sure he is). He's feuding with the guy who's going to be the next World Champion on Smackdown, that can't be a bad thing.

Kofi has to have a match with ADR, he isn't in the chamber.

IC Title vs #1 Contendership sounds like a good idea but I'm not sure if I want to see one of these guys soar at the expense of the other. A triple threat with both of them doesn't sound too exciting to me either.

While Kofi is almost definitely being fed to Del Rio, I'm sure he's gonna lose by interference by none other than Jack Swagger. That way, both men can move on from their feud almost instantly.

If this foreshadows a champion Del Rio's next program after Edge, or even for Summerslam-time, I'll be made up. That'd elevate a heel and a face to the Smackdown main event properly, and would really help out the company. Hopefully this is just background or a test run.

Given at least 15 minutes for a match at a PPV, these 2 guys could put on a absolutely awesome match. I really wouldn't mind it if Alberto Del Rio won the IC Title and headed to Wrestlemania as champion and won the world title as well. Then he would really have a lot to brag about and would really get him hated by the WWE Universe.

Pretty sure it will be a non-title match, beating Kofi clean is good enough for Del Rio to look strong. The match should be good though.

It really would and I think it would add a great element to his character. People would hate him because he talks down to everyone, and continues to win. They should just book him a stronger heel that the fans hate because he is that good. Think about Triple H in 2000, telling people he was "that damn good" and backing it up with wins.

I know Vince doesn't like to book heels strongly now a days but this is an opportunity where you can do it with confidence, because ADR has every element needed to be a mega star in WWE. He's got the charisma, the look, the mic skills, the ring skills, the finisher and most of all, he is Mexican. He completely appeals to the Hispanic audience and that will carry him even further in WWE.
