Iv often thought that had the WWE kept John Cena in a midcard position (or just on smackdown for a little but longer) maybe until 2008 when they lauched the pg era, then there might not have been such a big backlash against him from the adult fans. All those title matches he had, especially for the wwe championship, against the like of umaga and others, could have been for the us/ic titles.
This would have made Cena's rise to the top of the card more significant, and would have added some much needed weight to the midcard feuds. WWE still had Triple H, HBK, The Udertaker, Jericho and others to be in the main events. Imagine if the Cena-Edge feud from 2006 had been booked for the us title or the intercontinental title, it would have been amazing imo.
I think there was an element of too much too soon for Cena. He should never have gotten near Flair's record in the first place.
