WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry over at his website where he gives his thoughts on Monday’s episode of RAW. Here are the highlights.

On the League of Nations faction: Like the fact that WWE is trying to create a faction with Sheamus and company. Whether it works or not is TBD but hopefully the four talents involved are contributing to the presentation. If they aren't and it fails then they need to look in the mirror.

On Roman Reigns: Roman Reigns will advance faster up the ladder and with a stronger foundation if more of the Roman TV persona is presented naturally and not so scripted or produced. For Roman to be put in a position to carry a long in ring promo isn't fair to him or his fans. Always play to the talents' strengths and long oratory isn't one of Reigns strengths just yet.

On WWE bringing back enhancement matches: WWE returning to timely usage of 'enhancement matches' will not hurt them. There are so many excellent, workers out there looking to get noticed that these enhancement matches 2.0 might be a pleasant surprise and would help get incumbents over via winning. Plus, a new star might just get discovered.

The league of nations is terrible. Like where were they during each of the matches of the guys on RAW? Why did they just let reigns smash sheamus up in the final segment.

It makes no sense.

Go back to barbecue Jim Ross. The last thing the WWE needs are "jobbers". You just need more talent. Funny, not a single person gave a fuck about jobbers a decade and a half ago.

In fairness, there's something to be said for that.. They try to push every other match as though it was a co-main and it makes the actual main event less exciting. Raw and Smackdown should build up feuds and tease us (with the occasional :surprise: moment), not throw anyone with a current push in the ring twice a night.

Building tension is something the WWE has failed to do so consistently in recent times that it's hard to remember what all the excitement was about.

I think its exactly what the show needs (among other things). Have people that are out there to put on a show, but ultimately get beat by the big dogs. These days, rather than having one guy look good and one guy look bad, they just make both guys look bad with the crap 50:50 win trading booking. There's no damn payoff to a feud when the PPV match is actually just the 6th time two guys have had a match in a month. The showdown used to actually mean something. EVERYone doesn't need to wrestle EVERY show. Dropping raw back to two hours couldn't hurt either. Over exposure is whats killing the product right now

Wrong. It's always been jobbers to help elevate the bigger names. Before the Monday night wars, all you saw on TV was squash matches. And if they ever advertised something more meaningful for TV, there was always some kind of fuckery to keep it from happening. Then WCW upped the ante and basically forced WWF/WWE to put on near-PPV-quality matches every week.

The constant squashes used to get tired too, so too much of that isn't the answer, either. But there is still definitely a place for regular jobbers and jobbers-to-the-stars. Otherwise you have exactly what you have right now -- a bunch of mediocrity where basically nobody rises above anybody else other than a chosen one or two.

Two things I've been saying forever. I'm not sure how many legends need to cosign Roman's natural personality before Vince gets a clue. NXT has been doing enhancement matches with guys and girls off the street for the last two years. It's clear who has their finger on the pulse of the wrestling business and who doesn't.

Been saying this for years.

We do not need to see Kevin Owens v Dolph Ziggler x 10000000000000 in a year in meaningless matches.

The superstars should be facing off at PPV's and only now and again on free tv. The rest of the time should be devoted to building feuds and storylines through interviews, backstage segments, video packages and other means without just match, match, match etc.
They should be using old school jobbers so that the superstars actually look like superstars.

Enhancement matches would be no worse than what we're getting now. Right now we're getting the same matches between midcarders who are meant to mean something, but don't, because they keep on trading wins and losses.

The League of Nations almost certainly won't work, to be honest, unless they branch out from being 'Sheamus and his security team'.

And yes, Reigns would probably be better if he wasn't being restricted by WWE's insistence on having an overly PG friendly top face. Stop making him pull out corny lines and let him be himself a bit more, it's what works on NXT. This, of course, is NOT something that's totally limited to Reigns. Ambrose, and to a lesser extent, Owens, among others are being made to do the wrong things too, just with much weaker booking.

The WWE already has jobbers, like Adam Rose, Fandango, Bo Dallas, Heath Slater, thats who you use for your enchantment talent.

I used to be against enhancement matches, but NXT does them pretty well so I wouldn't mind them coming back. Agreed with the other stuff JR said too.
Same here. Reason I was against enhancement matches was because I thought it would harm the ratings. But since the ratings are at an all time low, why the hell not? Perfect time to do it.
