The biggest news of last week wasn't the Royal Rumble taking place, but rather the announced departure of one of WWE's top Superstars. WWE put out a statement which said that Dean Ambrose wouldn't be renewing his contract which expires after WrestleMania.

The fact that WWE put out a statement regarding this took many for surprise and has them thinking that this may be a work. Jerry "The King" Lawler was asked about this possibly being an angle on The Wrestling Hour podcast.

"Well, your guess is probably as good as mine," replied Lawler. "Dean is a… I don't know how you want to put it. He's not really an outgoing kind of guy. He's not someone you see hanging around shooting the breeze with anybody there in the locker room. He kinda stays off to himself – quiet kinda guy.

"My interactions with him is usually just a handshake and asking, 'Hey Dean, how are you doing?' That's usually it and that was basically my interaction with him at Royal Rumble."

There wasn't any talk about Ambrose's future at the Rumble, but news started leaking shortly afterwards. Lawler talked about when he first heard that Ambrose wanted out.

"I didn't hear anything about what you're talking about until Monday [after Royal Rumble]," said Lawler. "My [podcast] co-host, Glen Moore… he usually keeps up with all of the news that I don't even hear about. He was the first one to talk to me about it and he asked me the same thing, 'Did I hear anything at the Royal Rumble about it' and I didn't."

With Ambrose wanting to leave WWE, the natural speculation is to wonder where he'll end up next. But Lawler said he wouldn't be surprised if Ambrose took some time off from wrestling.

"I think it's been understood for a while that Dean hasn't been completely happy with his role there," stated Lawler. "So, I tend to think this is real. He's the kinda guy who's looking to do something different.

"I know that AEW is out there and might make him a big offer. But right now, Dean's mindset is that he wants out and away from wrestling for a while."

i have no idea if he's really burned out or if that's all dirtsheet bullshit but he's sure looked disinterested and rather glum on camera for months, wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to take some time to recharge

I see people saying Dean could take a break after his deal expires and maybe he does. Maybe after all the stuff in the past year with him being hurt and his best friend getting cancer, maybe that's what happens. But if the original report is to be believed, Dean wants to do his own things while he feels like he has the chance. And I think Dean will hit the ground running when his deal is up.

This of course assuming he doesn't change his mind or this isn't a work, and I don't think either is the case.

The funny thing is, in the last few weeks, I think Dean's actually looked MORE into what he's doing. The week he lost the IC title, he was practically dancing his way down the ramp and seemed really into it. Maybe he'd just told WWE he was leaving when his contract ran out before the show or something, lol.

This report is kinda stupid though, cos first Jerry says that he doesn't talk to Dean. Then he says that he knows Dean wants out of wrestling? I thought he didn't talk to him, so how does he know that :lol

Dean ha been doing the best mic work of his career recently. People have written him off because he's not doing the Moxley character but if you just get over the Moxley stuff and let Dean do what he's doing he's easily been on top of the game in the promo department. Combine that with the fact that he looks better than ever and his swagger lately and Dean feels more like a superstar to me than almost anyone.

He may be tired of the WWE but I don't think he's tired of wrestling and I damn sure wouldn't expect Lawler to know the truth either way

At this point I'm just going to go with crazy shit that pops into my head, as to "What Ambrose is really going to do."

*Ambrose is actually leaving WWE. He is going to the UFC, where he'll step up and face Cormier, since that pussy Brock Lesnar won't.
After a surprise win and solid 15 year reign, Ambrose puts over Curtis Axel's son as the new Face of OW! My Balls Inc.(The conglomerate of all sports and entertainment) Ambrose retires from the "fighting entertainment" business soon after. He then spends the rest of his days in the "loving entertainment" business, with HHH's/Stephanie's daughters.

Judging by the Chronicle special they put out on Dean in November, I don't think he's burnt out and wanting a break from the business, I just think he wants out of WWE. He's not a guy that likes sitting on the sidelines. He recovered from the surgery, survived a near fatal infection, gave himself a new look and got in the best shape of his life and all of that lead to the trash they wrote for him and Rollins.

Seeing the success someone like Cody has had outside of WWE is definitely fueling his decision to leave and I don't think it will take long after he leaves WWE that we see him in another ring, whether that's AEW, NJPW, ROH, IMPACT, PWG or all of them. He may want to take Cody's spot as the king of the indies.

So he first says he has almost no interaction with Ambrose, but he thinks he gonna stop wrestling for a while, lol more like wishful thinking AEW putting a ton of fear on WWE guys it's a delight.
