Mark is worthy of being on Dynamite and should have been for a long time now. Jay was the better performer, but Mark isn't some 2nd rate cast off. We have open challenges, MJF trials and fan service matches almost every week. I fail to see how this should be different. Yes, it does have the extra layer of Jay dying, but this doesn't change the standard format of the show. If you can sit through Mance Warner getting a title eliminator match, then you can sit through a Mark Briscoe match that honors his dead brother.
This is a terrible argument. Them constantly doing a match featuring people not on the roster is already a valid knock. Going "well at least this one has the extra layer of a real life recent death". Doesn't make that constant negative now a positive.
i’ve not watched much of the briscoes, but from what i’ve seen (basically the ftr trilogy) Mark is more my type of wrestler

i get a kick from the r e d n e c k fung fu stuff and the whole chicken farmer thing etc etc

he’s my sorta wacky
I like Mark quite a bit and I do think he he will be an enjoyable mid-card guy. My wife grew up in a farming community, so she has friends that remind me of the Briscoes. The ******* Kung Fu stuff is so accurate to their kind of humor. To me Jay was one of the best promos in the world though. He had the same ability as Eddie, where it seemed like he believed every word. Mark was also a great complimentary piece to the promos and the two of them had perfect timing. I always cracked up at Mark eating in the background.
Mark Briscoe vs Jay Lethal could be used to set up moving RoH Tag Titles. Lethal/Jarrett vs Mark Briscoe alone as he refuses to ever choose another partner and refuses to relinquish tag titles. Could get monster heat on Lethal/Jarrett when they'd win the titles.

"I'm already precrying for when Mark comes out tomorrow without a brother"
who is fake crying?

Mark won’t be. Jay lethal won’t be. The bois in the back won’t be. His family won’t be. His friend won’t be.

the fans who had a real connection with them won‘t be.

and the rest if us will think ‘wow, what a nice thing for all of them’ and just watch and respect the process.

i am sad for you that in 10 years or whatever you’ll look back at these posts and cringe so hard at yourself for being an edgelord

It isn't meant to make it a positive for you. The point is that AEW isn't changing their format. So Mark being on the show isn't some forced act. It aligns with past booking. Your trying to make the case that TK is throwing Mark out there for sympathy views and that just isn't the case. They are putting a wrestler that they have wanted on TV for months in a spot to be highlighted. It took his brother dying for him WBD to allow it, but that is on them for being cunts.

Yeah the folk already prepping how sad they'll be tomorrow are ridiculous.

And there's nothing edgy about it, folk get way too ridiculous and phony when death is the topic. Death is brought up and suddenly folk can't just keep it honest about things.

Lets pretend Jay hadn't died and this was just the first official Briscoe match in AEW proper.

Who the fuck would want this?

I'll quickly concede people would be happy the Briscoes were finally allowed a proper national spotlight. That I get because they are 1 of the greatest tag teams of all time and especially this generation.

But lets be honest after the

"Fuck yeah WBD stopped being bitches and let the Briscoes on TV like they deserve" talks wore off the sentiment would be

"Oh God they aren't going to saddle the Briscoes with a Jeff Jarrett feud as their introduction are they? That carny JJ knows how to get some spotlight doesn't he"

With or without death this is a "who asked for this" match

It is for sympathy views don't be naive. Mark is likely never going to be hotter as a singles act than he is right now. I mean Tony could've saved this for later down the road, but no 8 days after his brother died is the perfect time to debut Mark on Dynamite. Because it certainly couldn't wait for after the damn funeral.

I'm glad WBD allowed this. Classy on their part and,as an OG Briscoe fan, I'm happy to see one of them make it on a truly national scale. The fact that it is on Jay's birthday is an incredible coincidence. Terrible price of admission though. What a godawful week for wrestling.

Tomorrow would have been Jay's 39th birthday. Mark debuting in a tribute match, a week after his brother's passing, on a day normally reserved for celebrating Jay's life is as perfect a time as there pretty much can be.

Personally I can't imagine trying to tell others who were close, what is and isn't right in their decisions to pay tributes and homage to someone they loved posthumously.

What are you on about, you're the one who came in to play defense

They can do what they please and I can say its ridiculous.
Man, the Briscoe match is gonna be a tough one. I’m sure the boys were really pulling for this to happen.

Do you think Jay Briscoe himself would think this is ridiculous?

Does Mark, who has agreed to this, thinks it's ridiculous?

Do you think Jay's wife and kids would think it's ridiculous?

What's ridiculous is that you can't see how ridiculous you sound by telling others what is and isn't OK in paying tribute here.

I don't care how you, Jay, Mark, or Tony feels about it.

I think its fucking annoying and stupid.

No amount of

"But WBD is finally letting the Jannetty brother wrestle on Dynamite, because it's his dead brothers birthday... Even though we wouldn't let a proper tribute show happen last week."

Is going to change my mind this is corny and dragging it the fuck out.

Jay died, that sucks. Move the fuck on show wise.
It kinda sounds to me like Mark Briscoe is going to be in AEW going forward and it's not just a one-time thing. As long as he doesn't have a trash gimmick like Rey Mysterio where he is literally doing a Jay Briscoe tribute act all the way to a sympathy AEW World Championship.

If TK had his way, Mark would have already been in AEW before Jay died, so this is not a case of charity IMO. Mark was part of 3 of the best matches I saw in 2022, so he is an excellent talent to add to the pool.

Jay Lethal shall lose again. He basically loses almost every match?
He wins on Dark Elevation and regular Dark on Mondays and Tuesdays, respectively.

Lethal is lucky that he gets the wins that he does. He MIGHT be worth pushing in ROH. There is too much talent on the roster to protect Lethal anymore than he already is. I have seen him in ROH dating back to 2002. His ascension to the top of ROH was not during their better years. In present day AEW there are so many ahead of him in line as it is. Lethal will get a bigger push after The Elite, Moxley, Hangman, Punk, Death Triangle, Adam Cole, The Acclaimed, Orange Cassidy, Danielson, Moxley, Claudio, House of Black, Jericho & Sammy of the YAS, Lance Archer, Christian, Darby, Eddie Kingston & P&P, Ethan Page, FTR, Hook, Sting, Jungle Boy, Keith Lee, Juice Robinson, Takeshita, KOR, MJF, Rush, Starks, Bandido, Hobbs, Samoa Joe, Scorpio Sky, Sting, Swerve and lastly, of course, Wardlow. Sure Lethal should be on TV. I just wouldn’t push him ahead of any of the above mentioned. Also more of a priority the various tag teams, about six women and everyone’s favourites - Wheeler Yuta, Lee Moriarty, Action Andretti and Daniel Garcia.

I put them last because they split the fanbase somewhat. Tag teams like Top Flight, Lucha Bros, Bucks of Youth, Private Party, knights of the Black Throne, Silver & Reynolds, The Gunns and 2point0 all seem more over and have some connection to the fanbase.

Lethal can definitely do more than what he currently does in AEW. I just couldn’t justify his role over pushing 99% of the names already mentioned. Before Andrade flaked out he and Rush could’ve been recruited by Lethal. They would have the natural rivalry with the boys of Death Triangke.

Any team with Lethal, Jarrett and Satnam Singh fits more in those 1990s WAR shows. There are at least ten trios that I would push before the nameless faction led by Sonjay Dutt. If Lethal arrived earlier in 2021 or 2020 he could be one of the top guys by now. Once Miro arrived and brought everyone else with him the depth of AEW isn’t as shallow as it originally was.

Nothing wrong with Mark Briscoe having a match on Dynamite and people going to be emotional about it. It shows that people do truly care. I mean really, there has been chatter about how the Briscoes should have been on TV this whole time but because WBD were being asses they weren't. It's not like this is some sudden interest just because Jay died.

If my brother died a week ago and I was an active wrestler id want the support from everyone, including fans. After all, Mark Briscoe went from living his whole life, including his wrestling career, connected to his brother to now being without him.

I'm more interested in seeing Mark Briscoe than seeing Cage, Jericho, and Andretti

This is a great idea. And I do actually think Jay would like that idea too.
