I've been very critical of Swagger in the past, but now I'm starting to feel sorry for him. What the hell has he done to deserve the burial he's currently receiving?

Personally, I think he's screaming out for a push as a face. He could play a goofy face character quite easily, and I think the crowds would get behind him as well, as long as he was given a believable push.

As an aside, that bit on Raw when Ryback dropped him on his head looked nasty. Any chance Ryback got a scolding for that obvious and potentially serious botch?

I gotta agree with ya. I have a theory that Swaggy tapped Stephanie McMahon's ass so when Vince found out he decided to bury Swaggy (imagine if HHH found that out) :D now seriously, yeah I feel sorry for Swagger, I almost started crying when he got squashed by Brodus fucking Clay.

It was partly Jack Swagger's fault, and that's being generous. I imagine Jack Swagger's thought process was as so:

Swagger: "Alright, calling for the back body drop, well fuck this douche, I'm not going to jump at all so he can try doing a back body drop on my dead ass weight ant- AHG MY NECK!"

Ryback: "STUPID! WHY?!"

He's being buried because he is probably the least interesting guy on the roster. I don't know if he could make another character work or not, TBH I doubt he could because he doesn't seem like a very talented or versatile performer. But his current character is damaged beyond repair, and I think jobber is really the only suitable role for him at present.

He has some good ring skills, but he isn't that great overall. plus there's way more talented guys on the roster needing a push. It's a shame what they're doing to him though

Swagger has a lot to offer. I'm not sure what he has done to warrant the burial but it must have been pretty bad. Hopefully the "This is it" comment last night is the beginning of something new.

I think Swagger has potential, but I think the main problem since the beginning with Swagger is that he is (or was) using a very similar gimmick to what Kurt Angle used when he was with the company. He's an amateur wrestler. Red, white and blue entrance. He even has the Ankle Lock as a finisher. It's just a very generic and boring character. And, of course, it doesn't help that he is not nearly as good as Kurt Angle. WWE invested almost nothing into the guy and then, seemingly out of nowhere, he became World Heavyweight Champion and had an awful reign which didn't do anything for him.

If it were me, I would repackage him and give him a character that is more unique to him, as opposed to the tired, dull gimmick he has now. Also, I know WWE isn't as big on managers these days, but I do think Swagger could benefit from one. Read a rumor recently that Swagger might be paired with someone, but that could be a load of crap.

Swagger does have talent, I think his move set is somewhat boring though - him using the ankle lock is just obnoxious, don't even need to explain why. The "swagger bomb" looks stupid too, that move only looks good for the 400 pound guys. As for his gimmick, it really seems today that if you aren't John Cena or a select few at the top, you need some sort of cheesy comedy gimmick or you won't be put on TV - Swagger obviously can't do comedy. If they made him a more serious wrestler, one that doesn't do those stupid angry faces during the match, I think things would definitely get better. Also, his hairstyle looks really stupid. The guy has talent though, they are just using him wrong.

I can remember bein convinced that way back when swagger was the ecw champ he would go on to become a permanent main eventer & multiple wwe champ (kind of like a kurt angle type character) ive never been so wrong about something in my life! to be fair tho he aint half as good as i thought he was back then but he def shouldnt be bein used how he is today, its a shame tbh

He needs to take off the angle leotard and re-package ASAP. As for feeling sorry, I feel worse for Drew Mcintyre, another big guy who tried hard has the potential but has been left to rot. At least Swagger got a MITB win at Mania and a Short World Title Reign before they gave up on him

I agree with the others here, they need to repackage him asap or I predict he'll be on his way out the door in no time. I wonder if Swagger is pissed at his current state or if he doesn't care as long as he's getting paid.

Hey gang, first post. Got tired of talking about Wrestling (which I've getting back into over the last few months) with 'casuals'. Definitely nice to hear peoples opinions who are still interested and passionate about the sport, game, business, whatever you wanna call it ..... it'll always be "Wrastl'n" to me :).

Anywho, Jack Swagger, eeesh. I've watched that botched Back Body Drop, and I honestly can't tell who's at fault, I think both wrestlers are to blame. Ryback put both hands on 1 thigh, though I've seen it done that way, it's not "textbook" .... at the same time, Swagger didn't look like he put any effort into the flip. Ryback definitely has a lot to learn, but Swagger should know better.

I don't like Swaggers personality or any of that 'noise', however, I still think he's one of the pound for pound most gifted wrestlers on the roster. He knows how to wrestle, and he moves excellent for such a big frame imo. I don't think the WWE is using him right, then again, with a roster like that, there's only so much room at the top. It's why I wish another Wrestling Promotion would rise to power, and I'm not talking about TNA, which seems to me to have been hijacked by people to feed their own ego, instead of deliver a quality wrestling product. I feel kinda bad for Swagger and his losing streak, I think he's getting a bum wrap and would be much appreciated somewhere else, though, he'll leave behind a lot of $$.

I just kinda wanted to defend the dude, I say the botch was on both wrestlers. At the same time, I agree, his time in the WWE is probably up.

The guy needs to be took off TV for a few weeks and then re-packaged. Shame what they're doing to his character right now.
Everyone, I don't think Swagger needs to be repackaged at all. He simply needs a push. Sure, his mic skills aren't great. But he had a great feud with Rey Mysterio. With his muscular size, he came off as a heel that can really be badass whenever he decided to stop being goofy. I remember him giving Mysterio (with an injured leg) a beating. It looked too unbearable for children of the PG era to watch, and I wonder if any parents complained about it.

In addition, Swagger got TONS of heat. Every time he tried to speak during his State of the Championship addresses, so many people would boo him. One time the booing was so loud that you couldn't even hear what he was saying. A lot of people keep hating on Swagger, and that's exactly how you're supposed to react to a heel. Damien Sandow or Muhammad Hassan anyone??

I recommend watching Jack Swagger vs. Undertaker match that took place in 2010. Because of things like that, I wish WWE kept him at the top and eventually have him take the WWE belt from John Cena. He's a good collection to the set of top heels for this new era. Other than that, maybe he'll turn face when he feuds with his former pal Dolph Ziggler.
