So, I just got done watching Arn Anderson Vs the Renegade. (Renegade was an Ultimate Warrior rip off. Very cool. Why not rip off the Warrior? The Warrior is Awesome and Jim Helwig sucks. Rip him off like crazy, I say.)

Renegade was a disappointment. This match is widely panned. Eric Bischoff said they should have done it in 15 seconds to hide the Renegade's lack of experience. Ric Flair said they never should have done it at all because the Renegade wasn't ready.

I don't know, I've watched this match just now I thought it was pretty good. Wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. Renegade hit a couple of cool power moves and Arn himself? Excellent! Killer Spine Buster. Absolutely killer.

Not one botch that I've found. I honestly don't know why this match is so widely hated.

And I also don't know why the Renegade didn't go on to bigger things. How bad could he have been?

There were some issues with his outfit.

The "R" on his face was cool. But it should have been on the other sidE too. The R's on his shoulders were stupid. He didn't have the Warriors entrance and his whole color scheme sucked.

But I was rooting for him. I really dug him. I'll go further and say the wrestling world needed him. The idea was too good. It's the Warrior without Jim Helwigg.

And supposedly the Warrior sued? Why? It wasn't that blatant a rip off. It wasn't like he was shaking the ropes or anything.

That's like suing Hulk Hogan for ripping of Superstar Billy Graham.

Anyhoozle, thoughts?

People give the Rock/Punk matches so much shit. Yes the Rumble match was pretty terrible. But I found their EC match pretty solid.

never had a problem with the recent Rock matches actually.

It's one of those thinggs where people care so much it makes things more exciting.

thst's the thing about pro wrestling, you gotta make people care.

I thought the Rock/Cena match at WM 28 started slow but the last half of it was really good.

I'm in the majority though the WM 29 rematch was dog poo I thought.

I really dug 28. I hated the fact the built up to it for a year. I don't think they did anything in that year that couldn't have also been done in one or two months.

The build up was great though, don't get me wrong. Loved the match.

Second one was just okay in my opinion. Definitely some drop off there.

I liked the Renegade when I was a kid, and I feel bad about how his career went and how his life ended, but he clearly wasn't ready to be Television Champ. That match with Arn was pretty decent, as was his match vs. DDP where he lost the TV belt, but in between that was a lot of squash matches, and for some reason he loved to dive across the ring for a splash, which was pretty reckless and he botched it a lot.

Also, the crowd didn't really care about him. He was just too much like the Ultimate Warrior. Plus his matches were very fast, faster then a Goldberg squash. He should've had a different type of gimmick. WCW could've repackaged him too, but they never did anything with him for 3 years after his push. You guys think wrestlers get buried now, imagine getting a super push where you're associated with Hogan, Savage, and Sting and then dropped to rock bottom for the rest of your career. That's the Renegade.

I like faster matches. And I loved the Gimmick. One of the saddest things in wrestling is that the Warrior was Helwig. Yeah, he created the gimmick, but ...

He sucks ...

Can't agree more with how tragic it all ended. WCW management, every single incarnation of it, should never have ever had any say in anyones career. Just terrible.

Gonna watch that DDP match if I can find it. I'm kind of fascinated with this guy.

Arn Anderson's theme was so badass.
Yeah it was. I really liked WCW before the NWO. So much better in my opinion. It's a shame Arn didn't have a better run at that time as a singles wrestler.

I used to hate that guy when he was with the brian busters, fueding with the rockers. Man, I caught up in that fiction. That was a bad guy doing his job right there.

I liked Renegade. I liked Warrior and Warrior wasn't around at the time so the Renegade was some similar alternative for me. I didn't really care if something was a ripoff back then. Now I look back at the ripoff and think it was pretty horrible. It is sad he took his life so young though.

I forgot Jimmy Hart managed Renegade. Bischoff denies it but I firmly believe he was to be brought up for Hogan to beat for his Wrestlemania 6 loss to Warrior. I honestly think this match was good cause of Arn because Renegade was just awful.
